A KKAL MKSS 0‘ KISH Russell Crane, Danny Harrison, Steve Fletcher, Harold Smith
and Joe Harris spent a very productive day on the Towaliga River last Wednesday in Monroe
County just below the Flat Bridge. After fishing most of the day with limb hooks and trot lines
on the river they brought home a mess of fish that would feed most of Butts County! Among the
catch were the three monsters pictured above. Left to right are anglers Danny Harrison, Steve
Fletcher and Russell Crane (the rest of the crew was busy cleaning fish at the time the photo
was made). Steve Fletcher is holding the grandaddy of the catch —a 45 pounder. The other two
catfish were estimated at 25 pounds - plus each. Photo by Jerry McLaurin.

Administering medicine to
children can be an awesome
task for the mother who does
not begin training her
offspring properly from the
very first dose. A small child
should be "simply informed
that it is time for the
medicine in a firm, com
manding tone and then the
medicine should be admini
stered.
Hesitation on the part of
the parent gives the advan
tage to the child who will
stall, and possibly rebel if
given the opportunity. Ex
plain that the medicine is for
the child’s own good and do
not make a “big thing” out of
taking the medicine. Chil
dren’s liquid medicines are
flavored and taste good.
The proper compounding
and dispensing of medicines
is just as important as
administering them proper
ly. Our pharmacy takes the
greatest care in preparing
medications. Bring your
prescriptions to us for fast,
accurate service.

Flovilla Will Deploy Fire
Truck To Oust County Fires
The Flovilla City Council
Thursday night issued a
policy statement regarding
county-wide use of Flovilla
Fire equipment. Of the three
trucks used by the fire
department one Georgia
Forestry Commission truck
and the Dodge pumper truck
must remain in the city at all
times to protect Flovilla
residential property, unless
it is determined that an
extreme emergency exists
and more than one truck is
needed at the scene of a fire.
In such an emergency the
decision to deploy more than
one truck will be made by the
mayor, the fire chief, or the
Chairman of the Fire
Committee. Under no cir
cumstance will the additional
truck be deployed in excess
of five miles from the City of
Flovilla.
Calls for assistance to
house or structure fires will
be honored without question.
Response to field and-or
woods fires outside the City
of Flovilla will be made only
after reconnaissance by a
member of the Flovilla Fire
Department or Butts County
Sheriff’s office has deter
mined a bona fide need for
fire equipment on the scene.
Asa footnote, until such
time as the Butts County Fire
Department puts a fire truck
in commission, county resi
dents are reminded to call
the Flovilla Fire Department
directly in case of fire. Phone
numbers to call are Flovilla
City Hall 775-5661; Fire
Chief William Parker day
775-3579, night 775-5576; Fire
Committee Chairman Mal
colm Smith 775-2172; Mayor
Charles Huggins 775-7599;
Vice Mayor David Burford
day 775-5511, night 775-2759. If
there is no answer at any of
these numbers, a call should
be placed to the Butts County
