REMEDIES
BY TOM O DELL
Here is a remedy for someone who has stepped on a nail
or thorn. Take hot errbers from a wood stove and put them
on the ground. Put a wool sock over the embers and sprinkle
sugar over the sock. Hold the wounded foot over the smoke
and if you don't suffocate the foot will get well
An oldie for diphtheria: "A gargle of sulpher and water
has been used with much success in the cases of diptheria.
Let the patient swallow a little of the mixture. Or, when you
discover that your throat is a little sore, bind a strip of
flannel around the throat, wet in camphor, and gargle salt
and vinegar occassionally." Now if this remedy doesn't cure
your diphtheria oc sore throat, it will at least get your mind
off it.
