Mary R. Rawls Weds
Charles E. McCrackin
Miss Mary Rachel Rawls
of Jackson, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Lonnie B. Rawls,
and Mr. Charles E. (Chuck)
McCrackin of Jackson, form
erly of Barnesville, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Charles M.
McCrackin, were married
February 21st at the Second
Baptist Church in Jackson.
The double ring ceremony
was performed by Rev.
Franklin Gibson of Barnes
ville and Rev. Arthur L.
Price of Jackson before an
altar of candelabras holding
burning tapers, pompom
balls, ferns and an arch
entwined with fern with two
baskets of pink and white
glads, white mums and
carnations.
Nuptial music was render
ed by Mrs. Dottie Mc-
Michael, organist, who ac
companied Mr. Wes Kinner
of Green Cove Springs,
Florida, who sang “Some
where My Love” and “The
Lord’s Prayer” as the couple
knelt for prayer.
The bride, given in
marriage by her father, was
lovely in her bridal gown of
all white polyester organza
featuring an empire line
bodice and trimmed with
Venice lace encircling the
hemline that sweeps to an
attached chapel train. The
full bishop sleeves were cuff
ed with heavy Venice lace.
The fingertip veil was attach
ed to a juliet cap of Venice
lace and the entire veil was
circled with tiny lace trim.
She carried a cascade of
daisies, pink sweetheart
roses, and baby’s breath with
white streamers, centered
with a white orchid. She
carried a lace hankerchief
borrowed from her mother.
The bride chose for her
matron of honor Mrs. Lou
Kimbro of Buford. Her
bridesmaids were Mrs. Mar
garet Sherrell and Mrs.
Winona Cook, sisters of the
bride. Her flower girl was
Little Miss Toni Richardson,
great niece of the bride. Her
attendants were gowned
alike in floor length dresses
of pink and rose. The empire
bodice featured a V-neckline
and long sleeves with a ruffle
trimming the V-neck and
edge of sleeves. The skirt
was fashioned with an A-line
silhouette. They carried
nosegays of daisies and pink
sweetheart roses, net, rib
bon, and streamers.
The groom chose for his
best man John Sherrell.
Groosmen were Dewitt
Rawls, brother of the bride
from Mt. Pleasant, South
Carolina, John House of
Rome, Georgia, Jack Reeves
and David Ridgeway, both of
Jackson. Master Jason
Rooks, great nephew of the
bride, served as ring bearer.
The bride’s mother was
dressed in a coral and white
knit dress with matching
jacket with tan accessories.
Her corsage was a cymbi
dium orchid.
The groom’s mother wore
a blue and white knit dress
with matching jacket with
tan accessories. Her corsage
was a cymbidium orchid.
Immediately following the
ceremony, a reception was
held in the church fellowship
hall. The fellowship hall was
beautifully decorated with
pompoms, ferns, and basket
arrangments. The serving
tables were covered with
white cut lace cloths. White
daisies and pink tapers
completed the decorations. A
four tiered white wedding
cake trimmed with pink and
rose flowers topped with a
pair of love birds adorned the
table.
The Bride’s Book was kept
by Mrs. Baynollie Mayfield
of Atlanta. Assisting in
serving were Mrs. Lollie
Culbreth of Atlanta, Mrs.
Rebecca Cardell of McDon
ough, Mrs. Bonnie Richard
son, Mrs. Patsy Rooks, and
Mrs. Debbie Rooks, all of
Jackson. All assisting in the
wedding wore floor length
dresses of beige, pink, and
rose.
The bride chose a mint
green and white knit dress
with jacket and black patent
and beige accessories for
traveling. The white orchid
was lifted from the center of
the bride’s bouquet as her
corsage.
After a wedding trip to
Orlando and Disney World
and other points of interest in
Florida, the couple is

The bride-elect attended
the University of Georgia
where she was a member of
Delta Zeta Sorority and
served as delegate to the
Junior Panhellenic Commit
tee. She now attends Georgia
State University and is
employed by the Western
Union Telegraph Cos. She is
the granddaughter of Mrs.
Alice W. Smith, formerly of
Jackson, and Mr. Grady
Smith, of Meldrim, Ga.
Greatgrandparents of the
bride were the late Mr. and
Mrs. Gus Wise, long residents
of this city.
The future bride-groom
was graduated from Decatur
High School and served as an
officer in the United States
Navy in the Mediterranean.
He is employed by Rich’s
Inc., in Atlanta.
The wedding will be June 5
at Scott Boulevard Baptist
Church in Decatur.

CLUB MEETING
The regular monthly meet
ing of the Towaliga Com
munity Club was held at the
home of Mrs. T. T. Patrick,
April 14.
The colonial home was
decorated throughout with
Iris and other spring flowers.
Mrs. Eugene Parrish, Sr.
welcomed 14 members and
two visitors.
Mrs. Patrick gave an
inspiring devotional on our
“Responsibilities” here on
earth, great and small, after
which business was transact
ed.
Mrs. Sessions Weaver,
scrapbook chairman, stres
sed a clean-up and dress-up
program of homes so
pictures can be made for the
beautification scrapbook.
Thinking of you cards were
sent the shut-in members.
Mrs. Parrish read a letter
from State Central Hospital
thanking the club for used
clothing, and also asking
anyone for drapes, bed
spreads, curtains, or pictures
for patients’ rooms. Several
handmade items were sug
gested. Mrs. Lynn Shadrick,
showed a cosmetic cape
which would make an
attractive gift.
Mrs. Sara Caldwell and
Mrs. Lee Roy. O’Neal were
welcomed and they in turn
showed some lovely quilts
that they had made.
During the social hour
delicious refreshments con
sisting of sandwiches, cook
ies, candy and punch were
served from the spacious
dining room.
Some toured the lovely
home, others the Iris garden.

To Visit BPW
Mrs. Odone B. Hill,
president-elect of the Geor
gia Federation of Business
and Professional Women’s
Clubs, Inc., will visit the
Jackson B&PW Club for their
Monday evening, April 26th,
dinner meeting which will be
held at the Jackson Club
house. This will be an
installation program.
A charter member of the
Hawkinsville BPW Club,
Mrs. Hill has not missed a
meeting since the charter
was presented in 1969. She
has served as local president
for two years, as personal
development chairman,
National Foundation chair
man and Legislative chair
man.
She has made her years
count for those things which
are truly worthwhile. Her life
has been one of service, both
to the community and the
church. She has given of
herself unselfishly in places
of leadership which require
time and energy. Other
activities include serving in
offices in the Town and
Country Garden Club and the
R. J. Taylor Memorial
Hospital Auxiliary. She has
served as president of the
Pulaski County Cancer
Society and is now serving as
chairman of the board of the
local cancer society chapter.
She has held offices with the
'larch of Dimes, Heart
Association. Red Cross,
Bloodmobile, and the newly
organized Association for
Retarded Citizens.
She is continuously taking
advantage of the many
opportunities to increase her
knowledge and expertise.
She has a degree in Business
Administration and has been
employed as bookkeeper for
the Hawkinsville Coca-Cola
Bottling Company for 18
years. She w-as named
Woman of Achievement in
1975.
The Self-Development
Committee. Mrs. Thelma
Prosser, chairman, and Mrs.
Maurine Shields, co-chair
man, are responsible for the
program.

April 28th
Flower Show
An Exhibition Flower
Show, sponsored by the Butts
County Garden Club Council,
will be staged Wednesday,
April 28th, from 3:00 to 9 p.m.
in the Butts County Court
house.
In announcing the show
with the theme “Bi-Centen
nial”, Mrs. Flora Price,
president of the Garden Club
Council, stated that each of
the seven garden clubs in the
council will furnish rooms in
the courthouse and will
feature flower arrangements
depicting the era.
Hostesses will also be
attired in costumes in
keep with the era.
Nighboring towns of Cov
ington, Monticello, Griffin,
Locust Grove, McDonough
and Forsyth have been
invited to the show which
promises to be most interest
ing.

Mrs. John Thurston in
Savannah.
