Pet of The Week
BY BENJIE PARRISH
Jenny, a one-and-a-half
year old Belgian Sheepdog,
resides at the home of Van
Smith near the Stark
Community on the “Dam
Road.”
One of the few Belgian
Sheepdogs in the state, Jenny
was acquired after much
research on the part of her
master. After reading a
magazine survey that voted
the Belgian Sheepdog as
among the top four varieties
of dogs for gentleness and
all-around “petability”, Van
had Jenny flown to Atlanta

In addition to making good
pets, Belgian Sheepdogs are
known as hard working dogs,
displaying fierce loyalty to
their masters. As the name
implies, they are used for
herding sheep in parts of
Europe.
The breed was also widely
used during World Wars I
and 11, for reconnaisance
work. Today, they are used
as police dogs in the states of
New Jersey and New York.
Jenny seems to have
adapted quite well to the
clinic, the majority of which
entered the tournament.
W’inners of the tournament

commercial dog food and
