Weather
Report
By
Johnny Smolka
After a comparatively cool
and rather wet May (11.51
inches of rain) it appeared
that the heat of the late
Spring and Summer had
arrived when the tempera
tures began to rise the few
remaining days of the month.
But, as we all know how the
situation weatherwise
changes around here, it
suddently turned cold again,
again.
The records show that at
ten o’clock in the morning on
the 4th day of June it was a
cool 58 degrees. On the other
hand, our records also show
that on the First Day of June,
1972 it was 43 degrees at six
a.m. which was a drop of 20
degrees from the previous
morning. Then, as most of us
have experienced, the Heat
Wave finally arrived with the
thermometer hovering a
round the low nineties during
the latter part of the month of
June. In fact on the 24th the
city of Macon registered one
hundred (100) degrees.
Our rainfall for the month
shows a considerable drop
from May. We had .55 on the
Ist; .70on the 3rd and 4th; .50
on the 9th; the weekend of the
17th through the 20th gave us
1.40 inches; another .15 on
the 22nd; .40 on the 28th and
to wind up the month at Deer
Trail Golf Club we measured
.60 on the last day of June to
give us 4.30f0r the month and
33.86 for the year.
Comparing this June to
June of 1975, there was 4.85
for the month in ‘75 and 40.97
for the year at this particular
time. Lloyd Shoals had 4.44
for the month and 28.90 thus
far this year.
