LICKING THOSE HOT DAYS-Donnie and Bart Foster are shown being served double scoops
by Cherry Sweatman at Pauline’s Bakery and Coffee Shop.
Licking has become pop
ular on the Jackson square.
“Chocolate, Strawberry,
and Vanilla ice cream lickers
are the most abundant, but
the orange sherbets recently
have been scooping it big,”
said one scooper who has
been known to take a lick
every once in awhile himself.
Pauline’s Bakery and
Coffee Shop located on the
square next to Deraney’s has
sold S9O worth of ice cream in
one day and at 25 cents a
scoop that’s a lot of cones.
The new business opened the
last week in June.
The bakery part of the shop
features fresh morning do
nuts, pastries, cakes and
other goodies from Onree’s
Bakery in McDonough. Pau
line’s also has a menu of
sandwiches and cold plates.
For the breakfast patrons
Pauline’s has sau|Bge and
biscuits and plenty of hot
coffee at 21 cent a cup.
Soon to be added to the
menu will be soup, chili, slaw
dogs and hamburgers.
Olin and Pauline Glaze,
proprietors of the shop, were
in the motel and restaurant
business before moving to
Jackson. Mr. Glaze, a
Jackson native, retired from
the Army in 1972. He now
