Red Devils
Play Friday
In Hogansville
Fresh from a 7-0 victory
over Jones County in their
August 27th season opener,
Jackson High’s Red Devils
will journey to Hogansville
Friday night to do battle with
a highly-regarded Class B
football power.
Jackson, rated No. 7 in
Class A circles, will find the
competition tougher as they
tangle with Hogansville,
ranked as the second best
Class B team in the state.
The Red Devils will go into
the game somewhat crippled
by injuries. Terry Maddox, a
first-string guard, suffered a
broken arm in Monday
afternoon’s practice session
and Lester Jenkins, another
stellar lineman, has been
hampered by a nagging
illness.
Coach Tommy Car
michael’s Red Devils are
expected to give a good
account of themselves, how
ever, and the game is rated a
toss-up, with perhaps a slight
advantage going to the hosts
on their home field.
A large contingent of Red
Devils supporters is expected
to make the trip to
Hogansville for the 8:00
o’clock opening whistle.

Charles Stewart, 160 lb.
junior halfback, is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Stewart. Charles has
played as a starter since
his freshman season at
Jackson. This is his third
year of varsity ball and he
has the chance to become
one of the best before
graduation. Charles can
play either offense or
defense. He could prove
to be the break-away
threat that the Red Devils *
are looking for this year.
Charles runs the 100 yard
dash in 10.3. His quick
ness at defensive end
makes it almost impos
sible to get outside of him.
