Rules for Fair Flower Show
OPEN FLOWER SHOW
General Rules and Regulations
1. All entries must be made on entry blanks of the Butts
County Fair.
2. Entries must be made between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and
5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4. All exhibits must remain
in place until time of retrieval on Saturday before 10:00 a.m.
3. Entries not in accordance with the schedule will be dis
qualified.
4. Judging will be by accredited judges and decisions of the
judges will be final.
5. Only judges, clerks and general chairman will be permitted
in exhibition hall at the time of judging.
6. Containers and personal property should be marked beneath
with the owners name. The Fair Association assumes no
responsibility for loss or damage to property. Responsible
persons will be in attendance at all times.

Died Thursday
In Atlanta
Rev. A. E. Barton, Sr. of
2344 Jackson Drive East
Point, died Thursday, Sept
ember 16th, at an Atlanta
hospital where he had been a
patient for several weeks.
A former resident of
Jackson, Rev. Barton retired
about the time he came to
Jackson. While in Jackson he
filled the pulpit once a month
for about three years at the
Stark United Methodist
Church where he had a host
of friends who were grieved
to learn of his passing.
Because of ill health, he
and his wife moved to
Atlanta to be near his doctor
and his children.
Funeral services were
conducted Saturday at two
o’clock from Mt. Zion
Methodist Church with inter
merit in Arlington Cemetery.

ed. Howard L. Carmichael &
Sons were in charge of
arrangements.
Rev. Barton is survived by
his wife, Mrs. Isabelle
Barton; daughter, Mrs.
Gloria Barton Eubanks, Mil
len, Ga.; sons, A. E. Barton,
Jr., Butler, N. J.; Charles W.
Barton, East Point; Franklin
L. Barton, Decatur; sisters,
Mrs. Lou Reeta Northcutt,
College Park; Mrs. Naomi
Hamilton, Atlanta; brother,
Rev. J. Hamby Barton, Sr.,
College Park; nine grand
children.

BURIED SATURDAY
IN HAZLEHURST
Darrell Strawn, 7-year-old
son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie
Strawn of Hazlehurst, died
September 16th at his home.
Services were held Saturday
afternoon at First United
Methodist Church with Rev.
Marion Edwards, Rev.
Royce Story, and Rev. Phil
DeMore of Jackson officiat
ing. Interment was in Palm
Memorial Cemetery.
In addition to his parents,
he is survived by a brother
Alan Strawn; grandparents,
Mrs. Louise Hammock of
Washington, Ga., Mr. end
Mrs. C. Franklin Strawn,
Jackson.

Funeral services for Mr. P.
R. Kimbrough, 87, of 233 E.
Wesley Road, N. E., Atlanta,
were conducted Tuesday
afternoon at one o’clock at
Spring Hill with the Rev.
Sam H. Coker and the Rev.
Leonard L. Young officiat
ing. Interment was in
Westview. H. M. Patterson &
Son were in charge of
arrangements. The stewards
of Grace United Methodist
Church formed an escort.
Mr. Kimbrough, president
of P. R. Kimbrough Asso
ciates, died Saturday.
Mr. Kimbrough’s wife, the
former Lucy Watkins, origin
ally of Jackson, preceded
him in death by several
years.

this area, Mr. Kimbrough
was a frequent visitor to
Jackson and had many
friends here who regret to
learn of his passing.
Among the survivors is a
step-daughter, Mrs. W. F.
(Frances) Hindley of Jack
son.
