Consumers Get
Winter Tips
With Booklet
It all depends on where you
live just how close you feel to
Winter right now. If you’ve
been fishing in the mountains
of Denver lately, you’ve
probably felt pretty close to
snow and all the rest of the
winter scene already (like
mugs of cider in front of a
roaring fire). But, if you’ve
just felt the warmth of the
Indian summer, sun, then
it’ll take a little longer to
think “winter.” But, winter
will come, and there are
things you’ll want to do to get
prepared. Whether you need
help to work out the family
budget, advice on how to
pack those holiday gifts so
they arrive safely, or a place
to stay on your winter
vacation, here’s a tip.
The winter edition of the
free catalog, Consumer In
formation, can help. It lists
over 200 free and low-cost
government publications on
all kinds of subjects. If you
need information on auto
care, child care, housing,
health, or money manage
ment, as well as lots of other
consumer topics, the catalog
can tell you what govern
ment booklets are available.
Consumer Information is
published quarterly by the
Consumer Information Cen
ter of the General Services
Administration. For your
free copy of the catalog,
write to the Consumer
Information Center, Pueblo,
Colorado 81009.
Here are some of the
booklets to help you ease into
the winter season:
How to Pack and Wrap
Parcels for Mailing. 13pp.
Free. Tells how to pack it so
the gift will arrive the way
you want it.
Visitor Accomodations,
Facilities and Services
Furnished by Concessioners
in the National Park System.
74pp. 75 cents. For the hearty
who are planning an outdoors
winter vacation. Where to
write or call to reserve rooms
or services such as fishing,
guides, riding horses, river
float trips; etc.; includes
lodging costs.
Alcohol Abuse and Women.
25pp. 55 cents. Why some
women develop drinking
problems; what treatment is
available; and where to seek
help.
Canker Sores and Fever
Blisters. 14pp. 35 cents. When
colds or holiday excitement
bring on one of these, here’s a
word on causes and treat
ment.
Budgeting for the Family.
14pp. 35 cents. Resolved to do
this next year? Here’s how to
plan family spending, and
record expenses; even in
cludes a section on using
credit.
In addition, the catalog
lists booklets to help you deal
with your other consumer
problems. There’s a special
section on Retirement Years
that lists publications that
explain medicare, budgeting,
physical fitness and a food
guide all aimed at the later
years.
You can get the publica
tions at the prices noted and
the free catalog, Consumer
Information, from the Con
sumer Information Center,
Pueblo, Colorado 81009. Bulk
quantities of the catalog are
available free to educators
and consumer groups.
