Vanessa Singley Is Bride
Of Mr. Ralph Atkinson
Miss Vanessa Singley of
Jackson became the bride of
Mr. Ralph Atkinson of
Forsyth in a single ring
ceremony performed recent
ly at Second Baptist Church.
The Reverend A. L. Price
officiated.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. C. Eugene
Singley of Jackson. Her
grandparents are Mr. and
Mrs. J. O. King of Jackson
and Mr., and Mrs. B. C.
Singley of Locust Grove. Mr.
Atkinson is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. S. J. Atkinson of
Jonesboro.
The ceremony was per
formed before an altar
banked with emerald fern
sprays and candelabra hold
ing burning white tapers. A
prelude of wedding music
was presented by Mrs.
Harold McMichael, organist.
The soloist, Mrs. Albert
Smith, sang “Twelfth of
Never” and “The Wedding
Prayer.”

white Bible topped with a
white orchid, daisies and
gypsophilia. She wore a
chapel length mantilla veil.
Valita Singley, sister of the
bride, was maid of honor.
She wore a dress of blue
antron knit with empire
waist and matching wide
brim hat. She carried a nose
gay of pastel daisies, roses,
statice and carnations.
Wayne Lawhon was best
man. Ushers were Rodney
Singley and Robert Ander
son.
For her daughter’s wedd
ing, Mrs. Singley chose a
light blue floral dress with
matching accessories and a
corsage of white carnations.
Mrs. Atkinson chose a jacket
dress of light pink with a
corsage of white carnations.
Miss Teena Norsworhty
kept the bride’s book.

REPORTS EARNINGS UP
William S. Manning, presi
dent of the Bibb Company of
Macon, announced today that
net sales for the second
quarter of 1976 were up 27
percent over the second
quarter of the prior year.
Net income increased to 40
cents per share, as compared
with a net loss of 28 cents per
share for the second quarter
of the prior year.
Manning said that some
softening in economic activ
ity at the retail level was
observed during the second
quarter.

College and will begin her

the West Highland Baptist
Church, Hueytown, Ala
bama. Rev. Harold Golson
performed the ceremony.
Mrs. O’Neal is daughter of
Mrs. G. L. Jenkins and the
late Mr. Jenkins of Lineville,
Alabama. Her grandparents
are Mrs. Lewis G. Carroll
and the late Mr. Carroll and
Mrs. Jim Jenkins and the
late Mr. Jenkins. She is a
graduate of Harry M. Ayer’s
State Trade School of
Cosmotology and is employ
ed in Birmingham.
Mr. O’Neal is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin L. O’Neal
of Forest Park. His grand
parents are Mr. J. W.
Browning, Sr. and the late
Mrs. Browning and Mr. and
Mrs. Asa E. O’Neal, all of
Jackson. He is a graduate of
Samford University and is
employed as a Pharmacist in
Birmingham.
Sandra Jenkins, sister of
the bride, was maid of honor.
Stephen O’Neal, brother of
the groom, was best man.
The O’Neals are making
their home in Birmingham,
Alabama.

The Butts County Exten
sion Service is holding a
Christmas Decoration Con
test again this year. All Butts
County 4-H Club members
are eligible to participate.
Winning entries will be
displayed at the Central
Georgia EMC Lighting Show
on December 2 and 3.
Club members may make
any type of Christmas
decoration using any mate
rials. However, all work in
making the decoration
should be done by the 4-H’er.
All entries must be in the
Butts County Extension
Office located in the Butts
County Courthouse on or
before 5:00 p.m. on Novem
ber 29. (NOTE: The Exten
sion Office will be closed
Thursday and Friday, No
vember 25 and 26, for
Thanksgiving Holidays.) For

Mrs. Bernice Letson and
Mrs. Terry Price of Jenkins
burg were honored to
perform at the First Wes
leyan Church of Griffin on
October 20th.
During revival, as a
surprise to Miss Janis
Alexander, cousin of Mrs.
Letson, Mrs. Price sang “I
Want To Wear A Smile.” She
was accompanied by Mrs.
Letson on the piano. The song
was written by Miss Alex
ander and Mr. Hugh Anglyn,
and the reception was quite
emotional.
After the service, the
honored guests were treated
to a fine meal at the home of
Miss Alexander. Mr. Letson
joined the group and the
evening proved to be quite
enjoyable.
