It is gratifying to know that
I am dealing with folks who
are broad minded, consid
erate and understanding.
That’s why I am mailing this
letter and November Weath
er Report from Las Vegas,
Nevada. You see, my friends,
as you will read this
unfinished portion of the
November Weather Report, I
should have returned to
Jackson and Butts County by
the time this issue hits the
pavement. My good friend
Jack Long shuttled me tc the
Atlanta Airport on Thanks
giving Day for this week in
Las Vegas.
I have a nephew who would
certainly appreciate anyone
from this area stopping in to
say Hey to him out there. He
is Ronnie Tripodi. Ronnie
deals Seven (7) card Stud
Poker, that’s a card game
with which I am sure a lot of
my readers are familiar
with. I haven’t seen Ron in
about 12 to 14 years and
certainly am looking forward
to seeing him, his wife Linda,
and their two children, Ron
Junior and Kim. My mother
raised Ron and his two
brothers Ken, who is still
living with her in Niles, Ohio
and Rocky, who, together
with his wife Gayle, of
Griffin, Ga. by the way, live
in College Park, Georgia,
that is, not Maryland.
Now let’s get down to the
weather business through
Wednesday, November 24th.
Up to this particular time,
the low recorded for this area
was 24 degrees, that was
reported in Atlanta on the 6th
of the month, then again on
the 9th and 23rd. Despite the
fact that it was an early
winter, etc., with all the frost
during the early part of the
month, there were two fine
days on the 10th and 11th.
Both days we recorded 71
degrees here at Deer Trail
Golf Club.
Our friend Johnny Morris
reported sleet during the
early morning hours of
Sunday, November 14th. Our
rainfall up to Thanksgiving
Day showed that we had a
total of just over three inches
(3.02) for the month and 50.10
for the year. Lloyd Shoals at
the time had 1.65 for the
month and 47.05 for the year.
Looking at November of
1975 our records show that
the temperature on the 3rd of
November registered 78
degrees and three days later
on the 6th it was 82. And so,
again I say I’ll ask my good
friends at the Prog Arg to
allow me enough space in
next week’s issue to conclude
the Nov. report. In the
meantime my associate
Taylor Foster will inform me
of any unusual weather that
might take place whilst I’m
gallavantin’. Thanks Vincent
and Martha and Staff.
Christmas is Coming
Christmas trees first ap
peared in this country
during the Revolutionary
War. According to legend,
Hessian troops, homesick
for their friends and families
in Germany, gathered trees
from American forests to
help them celebrate Christ
mas. Now, more than 45
million Christmas trees are
used in this country each
holiday season. Leading
Christmas tree species are
Douglas-fir, Balsam-fir, Red
Cedar, Black Spruce, Scotch
Pine and Red Pine.
Sausage Facts
Most sausages are made
from selected cuts of fresh
meats, although some for
mulas contain cured meats
as well. Sausages can be
divided into these clas
sifications: 1. Fresh sau
sage. 2. Fresh smoked sau
sage. 3. Cooked fresh sau
sage. 4. Dry and semi-dry
sausage. 5. Ready-to-serve
(luncheon) meats.
