points located in the Snapping Shoals E.M.C. service area. Prior to this,
payments had to be made at our main office in Covington, Georgia or
mailed. Asa convenience to our member-owners an agreement has
been reached for six banks in our service area to collect S.S.E.M.C.
utility bill payments. The banks are authorized to accept utility bill
payments only.
To make your payment at one of our new collection points, you will
need to take your complete electric statement (do not separate at
perforations). One part of the statement will be stamped and returned
to you to kept as a receipt. Payments will be accepted from the 10th of
the month through the end of the month at the following banks:

TOWALIGA CLUB
MET AT HOME
MRS. WEAVER
The monthly meeting of the
Towaliga Community Club
was held at the home of Mrs.
Sessions Weaver February
9th at 2:30 o’clock with Miss
Willene Weaver as co
hostess.
The beautiful afternoon
brought out seventeen mem
bers and one visitor, Mrs.
Bertha Perdue.
The home was decorated
with Red and White arrange
ments with tiny valentines as
added attractions.
Mrs. Mary Parrish, presi
dent, presided over the
meeting. The program was
“History of our Club”
beginning with the Com
munity’s Sandy Plains
School where it was first
organized. Mrs. Bertha Per
due. as principal, in her
unique manner told of
activities of the school.
A history from 1923 until
this date was read by Mrs.
Sessions Weaver.
Mrs. Carolyn Moore read
several old clippings from
the county paper. Other
members added humorous
occasions and times that
caused much fun and
laughter.
Mrs. Belle Pettigrew was
present with a perfect
attendance prize. Several get
well cards were signed to
those on the sick list.
Mrs. Myra Smith and Mrs.
Danny Hendrick led the
group in several valentine
games.
During the social hour
delicious chicken salad,
pimento cheese sandwiches,
toasted nuts, candy and
valentine petit fours along
with punch were served by
the hostesses.
The March meeting will be
at the home of Mrs. Carolyn
Moore.

NEWNAN ATTENDED

A workshop meeting for
officers and Board of
Directors of the AARP was
held on Wednesday, Febru
ary 9th, at the Newnan House
in Newnan.
Four persons from the
Butts County Chapter were
able to attend. They were
Mrs. Edith F. Thurman,
president; Mr. and Mrs. Ed
McMurray, and Mrs. Louise
Greer.
This proved to be a most
helpful and informative
workshop.

DELTA KAPPA GAMMA
MET IN BARNESVILLE
The Upsilon Chapter of
Delta Kappa Gamma Society
met Saturday, February 5, at
the Women’s Clubhouse in
Barnesville.
“Presenting Project North
America,” a filmstrip show
ing the organization’s project
at the Navajo Community
College in Tsaile, Arizona,
was presented by Mrs. Sarah
Beth Crockarell.
Delta Kappa Gamma, an
organization of women edu
cators, contributes four
scholarships, a teacher, and
a day care center to this
Indian college.
Asa service project,
members mailed Valentine
cards to patients in local
nursing homes.
Mrs. Martha Elliott, presi
dent, informed members of
the passing of Mrs. Nelle
Presley, a long time member
of Delta Kappa Gamma and
former administrative
assistant at Griffin High
School.
The next scheduled meet
ing will be May 14 at the
United Methodist Church and
Quality Courts Restaurant in
Forsyth.
The Upsilon Chapter of
Delta Kappa Gamma con
sists of educators from Butts,
Lamar, Monroe, Pike, and
Spalding counties.

Molasses Facts
There are three kinds of
molasses: Blackstrap, usu
ally used for feeding live
stock; ordinary molasses,
a by-product of sugar re
fining that contains sulphur
dioxide; and, unsulphured,
the sweetest of the three
which is pressed directly
from sugar cane.
