Brother Of Jackson Man Dies in Chula Funeral services for Jack W. Watkins, 78, of Chula, were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 in the Eureka Primitive Baptist Church. Interment was in the Irwinville cemetery. Mr. Watkins died Friday after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Walton County and had lived in Irwin County for 62 years. He was a farmer and a member of the Woodmen of the World. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rachel Fletcher Wat kins, of Chula; two daugh ters, Mrs. Damon Roberts, of Fitzgerald, and Mrs. W. C. Perrin, of Chula; Three brothers, Lem Wat kins, of Jackson; James H. Watkins, of Panama City, Fla., and Waver D. Watkins, of Savannah; two sisters, Mrs. Edna McCord, of Porterdale, and Mrs. Floyd Beasley, of Con vers. Paulk Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Jackson Golf Team Finishes First in Match The Jackson Red Devils golf team defeated the Griffin Bears and the Manchester Blue Devils March 24 in a match played at the Deer Trail Golf Course in Butts County. The Red Devils won with a 306. Griffin was second with a 311 and Manchester had a 336. Ronnie Norsworthy led the Red Devils team with a score of one over par 73. David Brown had a 74, Donnie Norsworthy a 78 and A1 Duke had a 79. Other members of the Red Devils team participating were Morris Crockarell and Doug Bristol. The Red Devils will meet the Griffin Bears again today in Griffin at the Griffin Country Club. Hollis Griggs Resigns As Rec. Director According to Harold Mc- Michael of the Jackson-Butts County Recreation Commis sion, Hollis Griggs, director of the recreation program, has resigned his position to be the director of the recreation program in Toc coa, Georgia. The resigna tion is effective April 4.
