MRS. REDMAN
RENEWS MEETINGS
HISTORY FRIENDS
Mrs. W. M. Redman, Sr.
renewed her meetings of
Friends of History on Friday,
May 6th, at two o’clock.
Miss Sarah Bond, inter
national traveler and author
ity on foreign nations, gave
her talk as she turned the
reels on her screens made in
Jerusalem and other en
virons in Israel. One striking
picture was that of the
Fortress of Masada of Ein
Gedi where 1,000 Jewish
Zealets, last of the Jewish
nation, killed themselves
rather than surrender to
General Flavius Silva, the
Roman governor of Judea.
This general built a ramp to
the height of the mountain
only to find his intended
victims already gone. The
sheer side of Masada was
very clearly shown, this
picture owing to the book now
out by Yegael Yadin, Biblical
archaeologist who wrote this
tragedy.
Miss Bond’s slides were
clear and very beautiful. She
also narrated it all in a firm
and concise manner.
At the close of the
program, the hostess pre
sented Miss Bond with a
cake, surrounded by daisy
petals, on a silver platter.
Mrs. Redman stated that
Miss Bond is greatly appre
ciated by those who know
that we ourselves are entitled
to this ancient civilization for
our own religion.
