responsibilities of the Area
CETA Summer Youth Work
Experience Program by the
Mclntosh Trail Area Em
ployment and Training Coun
cil, according to R. L.
Norsworthy, Chairman.
Butts, Fayette, Henry,
Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spald
ing and Upson Counties
compose the Mclntosh Trail
Area.
The CETA Program will
provide a total of 1,108
summer jobs for youth 14
years of age and over who
are economically disadvan
taged or unemployed. The
majority of the slots will be
for 9 weeks, with a minimum
number of slots for 10 and 12
weeks. Employment will
begin June 13. Each County
in the Mclntosh Trail Area
will receive its pro rata
share of the 1,108 job slots
based on a fare share
formula.
Butts County will have 70
job slots.
The opportunity for em
ployment with public service
agencies and institutions
provides on-the-job work
experience to enhance future
employability and financial
assistance to enable youth to
return to school in the fall.

Under an agreement
reached between the Butts
County Commissioners and
the Jackson City Council, the
Butts County Zoning and
Inspection Department will
enforce all building regula
tions in the City of Jackson.
Contractors and sub-con
tractors in either City or
County must be licensed and
permits issued on any project
of SSOO or more. Permits and
licenses will be issued by the
Zoning and Inspection Office
in the Courthouse. Penalties
are provided for failure to
comply with these regula
tions.
Electrical contractors
must have a State Master
Card or pass a local
examination, while proba
tionary licenses will be
issued for plumbing, heating
and air conditioning person
nel with one year of
experience.
Building permits must be
secured by the owner, or
contractor, before work
commences and a permit
from the Health Department
is required if a well or septic
tank is involved. Georgia
State building codes will be
the guide for all enforce
ment.

removed from the pan too
soon it may be warm and

If a cake is allowed to cool in
the pan too long the
shortening begins to harden,
causing the cake to stick.

ARRANGEMENTS
If you need a way to hold
flowers in floral arrange
ments, you can improvise by
using scotch tape in place of
a flower holder. An easy,
inexpensive way to arrange
flowers in a vase is to place
strips of transparent tape
crossing each other along the
top of the vase. (Make sure
the edge of the vase is dry so
the tape will stick securely)
You can then place flowers in
between the strips of tape.
The tape will be concealed by
the foliage and the floral
arrangement will be held
securely with out the use of a
flower holder.
