Cooking By Microwave Is Popular Here “It was so simple, I think I will buy one this week!” “All those recipes from one oven, in that length of time?” “Unbelieveable!” “I am simply amazed!” “You mean my recipe might win a $725.00 prize?” “I baked a strawberry custard pie in about 7 minutes!” “My summer cooking is so much cooler ” What is everyone discus sing? The meritorius micro wave workshop that twenty women and one gentleman attended at The Central Georga EMC, on Wednesday, June 16th. With literature, recipes, and instructions in hand, each person went to their assigned group to begin cooking. There were four groups, and each group prepared different dishes, (on their own). After utensils were cleaned and put away, and tables set, everyone ate buffet style. It was a marvelous menu! Turkey, beef pot roast, beef surprise, sweet potato souf fle, zucchini lazagna, squash deluxe, corn on the cob, stuffed vidalia onions, straw berry custard pie, granola carrot, pine-apple bread pudding, bran muffins and iced tea. A discussion group fol lowed the dinner. Many questions were answered concerning microwave ovens and microwave cooking. Leaders for the Microwave Workshop were Susan Mill sap, Home Economist from Georgia Power Company, Mrs. Elizabeth H. Watkins, Member Services Director from The Central Georgia EMC, Mrs. Gwen Juhlin, Butts County Woman’s Task Force Chairman, and Mrs. Rachael Browning, Member Services Aide. Attending the microwave workshop were Jim Brown ing, Anne O’Neal, Peggy Byrd, Virginia Browning, Kathy Barnes, Mickey Duke, Stacy Duke, Grace Meredith, Elise Gregg, Jackie Cook, Hilda Maddox, Brenda John son, Jean Barnes, Bonnie Standard, Gloria King, Caro lyn Palmer, Martha G. Jones, Mabel Cornell, Max ine Beckham, and Olina Mays. Microwave ovens for the evening were furnished by T. E. Robison, Jr. Tire and Appliance Company, Sharpp dealer; Hodges Hardware and Furniture Company, Amana and Hotpoint deal er; Polk Tire and Service Company, G. E. dealer. DEAN'S LIST AT GORDON COLLEGE IS RELEASED BARNESVILLE The Dean’s List of students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on 12 or more quarter hours of course work during the spring quarter has been announced by Gordon Junior College Dean James F. Strickland. Dean Strickland also announced the Dean’s Merit List which includes students who have a quarter ly grade point average of 3.5 or higher on less than 12 hours of course work. Students from Butts Coun ty on these lists include: Dean’s List: Cora S. Cheves and Carl M. Gregg, Jackson. Dean’s Merit List: Loretta F. Browning, Lee Duffey, Leslie J. Earnhart, Joan S.
