NATURAL GAS SYSTEM
GEORGIA,
BUTTS COUNTY
There will be sold to the
highest bidder by sealed
bids, the Natural Gas System
of the City of Jackson,
Georgia. All sealed bids must
be submitted to the Clerk,
City Hall, Jackson, Georgia
no later than Friday, July 8,
1977. All interested parties
are invited to make their
proposals and submit their
sealed bids.
The conditions of the sale
will require payment by
cashier’s check, and bid
blanks and other written
materials connected with the
proposed sale may be
obtained at the Clerk’s
Office, City Hall, Jackson,
Georgia. Said property to be
sold on further condition that
the same will be purchased
as a unit by a responsible
bidder who will enter into a
certain form of contract with
the City of Jackson respect
ing such purchase, a copy of
which forms of contract may
be obtained at the Clerk’s
Office, City Hall, Jackson,
Georgia.
All bids that are submitted
will be opened by the Mayor
and the City Council of

Griffin Tech
Offers Radio-
TV Repair
Radio and TV Repair is a
twenty-one months course at
Griffin Tech. The program is
designed to train students to
become servicemen who
install and maintain radio
receivers, televisions, home
entertainment units and the
many other audio and video
systems available today.
This is an intensive course
in theory and laboratory
study of radio and television
fundamentals and circuits.
Emphasis is placed on the
development of skill and
proficiency in servicing radio
receivers, phonographs, re
corders, color televisions,
and other electronic audio
equipment using circuit
diagrams and test meters.
Radio and TV technicians
are employed in service
branches of large depart
ment stores, appliance
stores, and manufacturing
firms. Many more are
employed in independent
service shops; many are
self-employed. Employment
of service technicians is
expected to increase in
response to the growing
number of home entertain
ment products in use.
Griffin Tech has openings
in Radio and TV Repair for
the summer quarter begin
ning July 11. Persons
interested should contact the
school for additional infor
mation.

A fungus that came from
Japan in 1904 wiped out
America's chestnut trees
in a 50-year span. It’s been
termed the country’s worst
horticultural tragedy.

Art Course
To Curriculum
Another community ser
vices course has been added
for the summer quarter at
Gordon Junior College. Alan
Parker, Instructor of Art,
will teach an eight-week
course in painting beginning
June 27.
This course for beginning
and advanced students is
designed to present theories
of color and composition and
give experience in painting
through studies of still life
and human figures. Students
will work on their own level
and must purchase some
supplies. The class will meet
from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. each
Monday evening for eight
weeks beginning June 27 in
Woodward • Hall on the
Gordon campus.
The class will be limited to
twelve students, and the cost
is S2O per person. Reserva
tions may be made by calling
the Gordon Community Ser
vices office, 358-1700.
Other community services
courses which are offered
this summer are beginning
swimming, obedience train
ing for dogs, vacation
photography, speedreading,
and real estate sales associ
ate pre-licensing.

Offers Course
In Carpentry
Carpentry is a one year
program at Griffin Tech. The
course consists of classroom
and shop experiences involv
ing layout, fabrication, as
sembly, installation, and
repair of structural units.
Included in instruction is the
care and use of hand and
power tools; equipment and
material estimates are also
included.
The strength of the
carpentry program at Griffin
Tech is the experience
gained through a “live”
project. Students have the
opportunity to work on all
phases of carpentry during
the construction of a house.
Job opportunities for car
penters should be plentiful
over the long run. Because of
the large number of people
employed in tms neiu,
replacement needs are high.
Besides the job openings that
result from the need to
replace carpenters who re
tire, die, or transfer to other
occupations, many openings
will be created by employ
ment growth.
Griffin Tech has openings
in the carpentry program for
the summer quarter begin
ning July 11.
