My friend, Kathleen Flei
scher, created a great
summer dessert; Honey-
Dipped Peach Upside-Down
Cake. Don’t let the long name
scare you. It’s done by using
a basic Sour Cream Coffee
Cake recipe and combining it
with peaches. It’s wonderful
served with whipped cream.
If you’re looking for anew
dessert using peaches-this is
very good.
HONEY-DIPPED PEACH
UPSIDE-DOWN CAKE
4-5 medium peaches, pared
and sliced
V'2 cup honey
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
Let peach mixture set for a
few hours OR simmer until
tender over a double-boiler.
COFFEE CAKE
l / 2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
i/ 2 teaspoon salt
Cream margarine and
sugar until mixture is light.
Add eggs, vanilla and sour
cream. Beat well. Sift flour,
baking powder, salt and
baking soda together. Stir
gradually into batter.
Butter a 10” spring form
pan. Drain peach mixture,
reserve juice. Put peaches in
pan first and arrange them
attractively. Half of the
peach juice may be added to
the peaches and half re
served for serving. Pour
batter in on top. This is a
thick batter and you may
have to spread it with a knife.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45
minutes. Best served with
whipped cream.

HONOR THE BLOOD
Have we as Christians
forgotten to honor the blood
of Jesus Christ? The Bible
says, “If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all un
righteousness” (I John 1:9).
Hebrews 9:14 says, “How
much more shall the blood of
Christ, who through the
eternal Spirit offered himself
without spot to God purge
your conscience from dead
works to serve the living
God.” He declares in
Revelation 1:5 that He
“washed us from our sins in
His own blood.”
Our generation is so sin
and guilt conscious it has
forgotten how to rejoice in
what God has done in Christ
Jesus. We are so prone to cry
over sins and failures of
other days and years. We
have gotten to the place that
we think it is a mark of
humility to talk about how
wicked, unworthy, vile and
unclean we are. If you are
