THE W EATHER REPORT
FORJUNE
As the old saying goes, “if
you ain’t gittin’ no rain, you
just ain’t payin’ the preach
er.” Seems to me we’re
pretty good to the ministers
out here at Deer Trail, but we
just can’t get any rain.
There are parts of the
County not too distant from
the golf course that have
done well insofar as precipi
tation is concerned. Take
Lloyd Shoal for example. For
the month of June they
recorded a total of 6.44 inches
and 24.21 for the year.
However at the golf course
we received only 1.08 for the
month which gave us a total
of 19.53 for the year.
Now if your memory
serves you well enough you
will recall that this is the
third consecutive month of
very little rainfall. We had
1.13 in April and 1.52 in May.
At the end of June 1976 wp

WEATHER
had measured a total of 33.86
inches. Then to add insult to
injury it has been extremely
hot especially during the
month of June registering in
the 90’s during most of the
period and Macon on one or
two occasions went over the
century mark. Our high here
was 98 degrees.
Asa diversion from that
extremely hot weather dur
ing this past month it dipped
to 48 degrees on the 10th. The
19th day produced two
rainbows which seemed
rather unusual and the final
day was really a Lulu. That,
my friends will be confirmed
by the picture in this issue of
the tree that was struck at
Deer Trail during a severe
electrical storm. Many who
saw the tree, especially the
Pro Lorie Mangham, stated
they had never seen a tree as
completely splintered as that
one.
We at Deer Trail, and I’m
sure the farmers and home
gardeners among others who
are proud of their landscap
ing, etc. hope there’ll be
some relief in the future.

Now, Hold On. That was an
achievement by one of the
