TO THE FANS AND FRIENDS OF ELVIS PRESLEY IN JACKSON AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES: Last Thursday afternoon a very attractive lady walked into my shop. She introduced herself as Mrs. Pickett, a personal friend of Elvis Presley and his family. She is a former resident of Jackson, and since the family was aware of this, they asked her to express to the friends in Jackson the sincere appreciation for the floral offering sent to Elvis’ funeral. There were over 3100 offerings sent and of course it would be impossible for the family to send thank you notes for so many. Our guitar design was the second largest piece sent to the funeral and was placed close to the casket for the service. It was six feet tall and was made of blue and white flowers, incidently, two of Elvis’ favorite colors. She said we should feel very special because the family made such an effort to let us know of their deep appreciation for the kindness we had shown them. I also wish to say as a participant in the tribute to Elvis that I think all who contributed would like to thank Mr. Don Earnhart and Radio Station WJGA for giving us the idea and the chance to coordinate such a gesture. It proves they are aware of the interest of many, many citizens who listen to them each day.
