LEGAL Mm®ES Notice NOTICE OF SALE UNDER POWER OF DEED TO SECURE DEBT GEORGIA, BUTTS CO. On the 6th day of September, 1975, DALLAS THOMAS BOWMAN and EDNA RUTH BOWMAN executed a Promissory Real Estate Note for $12,250.00, payable to Newton Federal Savings and Loan Associa tion of Covington, Georgia, with interest thereon, which Note was payable in monthly installments of $97.07 per month, beginning on the Ist day of October, 1975, and, continuing thereafter on the first day of each succeedng month, with the final installment being due and payable on the first day of September, 2004. Each pay ment being applied to the interest as due, and the balance being applied to the reduction of the principal amount, the interest being computed on the unpaid principal balance. Time was made the essence of the contract and the said Promissory Real Estate Note contains a provision for the payment of ten per cent (10 percent) of the unpaid principal balance and in terest as attorneys fees if collected by law, or through an attorney at law. In order to secure the payment of said Note, DALLAS THOMAS BOWMAN and EDNA RUTH BOWMAN executed and delivered to Newton Federal Savings & Loan Association a Deed to Secure Debt, conveying to it the following described tract of land; to-wit: All that tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the 615th District G.M., Butts County Georgia, locat ed in Land Lot No. 126 of the Second Land District of said County, fronting East 136.6 feet on an unimproved dirt road, and particularly .des cribed as follows: BEGINNING AT A POINT marked by an iron pin, located in the Southeast corner of a tract of land owned now or formerly by C. H. Daniels, which point is 352 feet Westerly from the center line of Woodward Road at an intersection with a dirt road; thence, from said POINT OF BEGINNING, South 89 de grees 30 minutes West 186 feet to a point marked by an iron pin; thence, South 1 degree 50 minutes West 139.5 feet to a point marked by an iron pin; thence North 89 degrees East 180.3 feet to a point marked by an iron pin, on the West side of the dirt road; thence, along the West side of said dirt road North 4 degrees East 180.3 feet to a point marked by an iron pin; on the West side of said dirt road North 4 degrees 30 minutes East 136.6 feet to a point marked by an iron pin, which is the POINT OF BEGINNING. The above described tract of land is bounded now or formerly as follows; North by C. H. Daniels, East by a dirt road, South by land of Charles Carter and West by land of the Lunsfords Trailer Park. Said tract of land is described as per a plat of survey prepared by T. A, Carmichael, Butts County Surveyor, which plat is dated October 23, 1972, and is of record in Plat Book 4, Page 69 in the Office,, of the Superior Court Clerk of Butts County, Georgia; and by reference said Plat is made a part of this description. Said Deed to Secure Debt is recorded in Deed Book 58, Pages 484-485, in the Office of the Clerk of the Superior Court of Butts County, Georgia. Because DALLAS THOMAS BOWMAN and EDNA RUTH BOWMAN, defaulted in making the payments of the monthly installments as they ma tured, NEWTON FEDERAL SAVINGS & LOAN ASSO CIATION, pursuant to the provisions of said Promis 'Spry Real Estate Note and Security Deed, as aforesaid, securing the same, has exercised its option and right and declared the entire balance of said indebtedness due and collectable. Under the provisions of Public Law 94-142, Part B (Title VI), the state of Georgia is entitled to receive grant funds from the Bureau of Education for the Handi capped, U.S. Office of Education, to provide pro grams for handicapped child ren. These funds were applied for last July by the project director, Fran Cranfield, with the approval of Superin tendent Comer and the School Board. Notification of the grant approval has been received and the funds are expected shortly. This program, known as Griffin Tech Now Offers Night Courses The Business Education Department at Griffin Tech has expanded to an extended day program. The Business Education Department joins three other programs pre sently operating on an extended-day schedule: auto mechanics, carpentry and machine shop. Facilities and staff are available for these programs from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. The concept of the extend ed day is to make greater utilization of the school’s facilities and provide stu dents with a better opportu nity to attend at convenient times for them. Two instruct ors have been employed to staff the “second shift” phase of the school day in the business program. Griffin Tech offers three majors in the Business Department - Accounting, Clerical, and Secretarial. Students may enroll on a part-time or full-time sche dule. The 1977 fall quarter begins October 4, and applications are being ac cepted at this time. Byars Rites Were Held Friday Funeral services for Mr. James Oscar Byars, 66, of Eatonton, were conducted Friday afternoon, September 9th, at four o’clock from the Second Baptist Church in Jackson with the Rev. Robert Watts and the Rev. Norman Williams officiating. Inter ment was in Sandy Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Byars died unexpect edly Thursday morning, September Bth, in Eatonton. Born February 18, 1911 in Butts County, he was the son of the late Charlie Byars and the late Claudia Smith Byars of Butts County. He was a member of the Marshal Memorial Baptist Church in Eatonton. Mr. Byars is survived by one brother, Luther Byars of Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. • Margie Churchwell of Macon and Mrs. Lizzie Crane of Monticello; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Waymon Polk, Ricky Churchwell, Doyce Polk, Lamar Polk, Sam Byars, and Roy Polk. Sherrell Funeral Home was in charge of arrange ments. NEWS FROM Worthville By Mrs. L. C. Tribble Mrs. Nellie Cochran visited Mr. and Mrs. David Burford, Carin and April, of Jackson, Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Collins and Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Collins of Decatur spent Monday with Mrs. Minnie Lee Hodges. Mr. Hiram Smith returned home Friday from the VA Hospital in Decatur. Mrs. Keith Washington is in the Intensive Care Unit of Georgia Baptist Hospital following surgery on Friday. Mrs. Nail Sealey is a patient at Georgia Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Helen Welch of Union Point visited Mrs. F. B. Mason Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Maddox of Florida and Mrs. Madge Pickett of Jackson visited Mrs. F. B. Mason and Mr. Forest Mason Sunday afternoon. Mrs. G. C. Bullock of Decatur and Mrs. Ruby Hardy of Conyers visited Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Ireland on Monday. Mrs. S. J. Ireland attended the WMU meeting at Sardis Baptist Church in Henry County Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Estes of Griffin visited Sunday after noon with Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Ireland. Mrs. Phillip Green of Decatur visited Tuesday with Mrs. W. S. White. Mrs. E. M. McCart of Covington spent Friday with Mrs. W. S. White. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Tribble spent the weekend with Mrs. Whaley Tribble in Carlton. staff and recommended for review by the Butts County Special Education Place ment Committee. The pa rents will be invited to that meeting. If a child requires the services of another agency, his parents will be referred to them. If he is recommended for placement on the Hooter Tutor roll he will be scheduled for weekly tutor ing in the mobile unit at his home. The goal of this program is to identify those children who will benefit from early detection of problems which will be costly in personal and financial terms if not remedied at an early age. More information will be announced as the program develops. Mrs. Etheridge Does Volunteer Work At 77 Mrs. Florrie Etheridge joined Butts County Com munity Service in Febuary 1973 at the age of 74. She is now 77 and still a good and loyal volunteer worker. Mrs. Ha vis Greer, director of the center operated by the Piedmont area Community Action Agency, Inc., stated that “Mrs. Etheridge’s duties consist of general assistance work such as answering the phone, check ing clothing for distribution to the needy, field out-reach work, and working in sewing •classes.” Mrs. Greer also said that, “Mrs. Etheridge does quilt ing and makes spreads and pillow cases, which are sold at the center.” The monies received are used to help the needy. When asked how she likes work, she said, “I am thrilled over my work,” and one can see by looking at her that she really is thrilled about her work. Mrs. Etheridge is on call with the center. She usually works one to three days a week as needed. Mrs. Etheridge said that hobbies are quilting, sewing, and fishing. Mrs. Etheridge attends Towaliga County Line Bap tist Church where she has been Secretary to the Ushers Board for 37 years. Mrs. Greer said that she felt the Service Center was truly fortunate to have a volunteer like Mrs. Florrie Etheridge. PUBLIC INPUT ASKED IN SOLID WASTE PLANS The Environmental Pro tection Division (EPD) of Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources is hosting public meetings this month to consider the designation of agencies and boundaries to develop regional solid waste management plans, accord ing to Leonard Ledbetter, division director. These meetings scheduled by EPD will enable citizens and their elected officials to be actively involved in this process. On Tuesday, Sep tember 20th, a meeting will be held in Macon at 1:00 p.m. in Room 210, Economics and Business Building of Macon Junior College.
