A Surprise,
On last Sabbath evening, Just as the
purple tints of a winter sunset bathed in
mellow beauty tho housetops and spires
in our quiet littlo oily, there occurcd a
matrimonial celebration at the residence
of Rev. Mr. Weaver, which was quite tv
surprise to the denizens of our town.
The contracting parties were Mr. J. E.
Graham and Miss Scott Sharp, both well
known aud admired young citizens of
Tho marriage could not have been term¬
ed a "runaway" match, for it has been
long understood by every one that sooner
or later Hymen, would claim still, .these two
young lovers as devotees; circum¬
stances lead them to take us all by sur¬
prise, which they certainly did.
Jim is one of the best and most popular
young men who ever entered the blissful
connubial state—a thorough gentleman—
nn austere man of business—a warm
friend, and as handsome as ho is good.
Wo could not wish for any girl a better
fate than to be his wife.
Miss i?cott is one of tho reigning belles
of. Fort Gaines—lovely, niunable and ac¬
complished—loved and admired by all
who know her and just the fair bride one
would select for such a handsome and
chivalrous husband as she has chosen.
Never were a pair of loving hearts linked
together by tho mystic tie of wedlock,
whose every characteristic was more con¬
genially moulded than handsome Jim and
Ills bonny bride. whose
We have never known of a couple
wedded life began under more favorable
auspices, nor who wore followed by such
a universal expression of approval and
good will by Ve the entire community.
To them beg to tender, not only our
own best wishes, but also the congratula¬
tions of the entire city. May their jour¬
ney down life’s crowded highway be
fraught with joy and happiness, and the
glowing photograph of the future, now so
resplendent with bright anticipations, only
radiate with more exquisite beauty as each
of its love-lit tracings become a reality.—
