Death hw again invaded oar ranks.
Brother Alexander L. Miller, a worthy
member of our Lodge has been called
from labor to refreshment; his death hav¬
ing occurred November 8th, 1888, In the
thirty-second year of his life.
tie was admitted Into this Lodge July
16th 1887, and maintained unsullied, his
connection withfit until the end of his life;
being s worthy exemplar of the noble
principles of the order.
As In al) walks of life, so especially in
his association with the brethren of the
“Mystic tie," he was upright, genial and
affable.
While we how without murmuring to
the will of the Great Architect of the uni¬
verse, we can but deplore the death of our
dear brother and worthy fellow-laborer,
and we feel that this Lodge, his family,
and his community, have sustained an lr
i parable lore.

Lodge be Instructed to Inscribe s page of
our minute book to his memory, contain¬
ing tho date of his birth, death, and in¬
duction into the Oader.

Tho military boyft are very anxious to
go to the state encampment next summer.
Nearly as many have promised to go, as
will be required to make the company
presentable. It will be some time before
before tho state encampment, but It is
none too soon for the boys to talk It up,
and get in good shapo to go.
Tho measles are spreading rapidly. A
good many new cases in town this and
last week. Grown persons who have nov
had them and mothers with small children
are trying to quarrantine against the un¬
fortunates, but it seems that it does very
little good to try to dodge that disease, as
it attaoks nearly every one at soma time
in life.
THE RIVER BRIDGE.
TTNTIL further notice, the river bridge
will be free to all parties coming
here from Alabama, to trade, or to haul
frolght from the railroad depot to Alaba¬
ma.
Most of the blacksmith and repair shops
of tho town are situated close together on
Hancock street near the guard house. A
few months ago they were scattered all
over town. Why they prefer to locate so
close togother we do not know, but It Is
a great doal more convenient for farmers
and others desiring that kind of work
done, to find them all so near.

made its appearance on my side. It was a
malignant cancer, eating Its way Inwardly
In such a way that It could not be cut out.
Numerous remidioe were «ed for It, but
the Cancer grew steadily worse, until It
seemed that I was doomed to follow the
others of the family. I took Swift’s Spe¬

the poison, and continued its use until I
