arc. The young people of Fort Gaines
never fail to avail themselves of an oppor¬
tunity to meet and while the hours away
in conversation and the more,
joyous occupation of dancing. So when
it was known that Friday night would
give them another delightful opportunity
for enjoyment, they began to lock forward
and count the hours, so eager were they
i for the joyful occasion to arrive. At an
I early hour they began to throng In the

j brilliantly lighted parlors, and by 9 o’clock
the larger part of them were present, im¬
patient for the music to begin. Sots were
formed, the music under tho management
of Prof. Lawson, of Quitman county,
struck up and the pleasures of the night
began. No wonder, it was claimed a
lovely night and a glorious succoss, an
occasion to bo treasured in tho hearts of
those present, and that the kindness of
tho hostess, as also the valuable services
of 3Iessrs. Whatley & McAllister in so
curing such an opportunity, deserve
deep and lasting gratitude. It was im¬
possible to secure a complete list of those
present.
