The other bill is for the incorponU Ion

safe we think, to say that this question
of a bank iu Fort Guinea is the most se¬

As soon m tho proposed ball began to

The Montgomery Fvpioltlon.
The Soutberu Fxpraition Company of
Montgonier, Ala-., will open their gates
to the world on November 5th, and close
ou November 15th. Montgomery will
suqiOMs all her former magnificent shows
in this effort. She has already a very
large sum of money paid in, and are of
femug priuoely premiums. MnJ. M. C.
burke is general manager, and Hon. W.
G. Bibb, Jr., Secretary. This is a
sufficient guarantee that the people will
not be disappointed when they go to
Montgomery in November to witness
the workings of the grandest exposition
ever field in the South.
They have secured all the leading nt*
fractious to be had, and Mr. H. C. Bill
ingslea, of Montgomery, the flrst capital
of the Confederacy, will havo the aid of
Col. F. E. Grist, of Fort Gaines, the
noted Southorn Cocker, in the roangae*
ment of the Cocking Tournament to be
held on the Exposition grounds during
thc entire Fair.
Col. Grist will, so he bills ns, carry
over a largo numlicr of cocks, and this
will be good news to tho lovers of this
si>ort, as there will be many other prom¬
inent cockers throughout the United
States present.
The Exposition is to lie congratulated
upon securing tho presenco of Col. F.
E. Grist, as it will assure tho best of
protection, by the law, to the numerous
crowd that will be on hand to witness
this Tournament. Wo venture to say

Little Women
are as a rule, poascssed of happy di«
poHitions; but when these sweet dis,
positions bocom scourged or irritable
in consequence of the long train of
distressing features peculiar to female
complaints, they arc then not com¬
panionable to soy the least. It is
the duty, not only of little women,
but of all woitteti so afflicted, to
bring about ftnbjection, and immedi¬
ate removal, of these painful maladies.
This is easily accomplished by the
use of Dr. Pierces Favorite Prescrip¬
tion, the great specific for “female
weaknesses.“ It is a positive cure
for the most com plicated ami obsti¬
nate cases of leiieorrlfpa, excessive
flowing, pairfrtl menstruation, unnat¬
ural suppressions, prolapsus, or fall¬
ing of the womb, weak back, “female
weakness,’’ anteversion, retroversion,
bearing-down sensations, chronic con¬
gestion, inffariiation and ulceration of
the womb, intlamntion, pain and ten¬
derness in ovaries, and kindred ail¬
ments. All druggists.
There are ninny accidents and diseases
which affect Stock and cause serious in¬
convenience and loss to the fanner in his
work, which may be quickly remedied by
the use of Dr. J. II. McLean's Volcanic
Oil Lcniment.
Thr^Canic to Scoff.
It was not very Iona; ago that a
Mftino man firetl his shotgun into a
calithumpian crowd that serenaded
him with disastrous results. A \ n
Orford county deaeon who was an¬
noyed in a similar way recently hit
upon a vastly better method of rout¬
ing the invaders of his peace.
He lost his first wife, with whom
he had lived fifty years, and in time
took another bride to solaee his de¬
eding days. Hnch a proceeding, al¬
though warranted both by Holy Writ
aud by human precedent, caused Con¬
siderable talk in the neighborhood on
account nf the deacon’s advanced
age. and Rome of the young people
proposed to give tho couple an old
fashioned serenade. So they gather¬
ed a large and noisy crowd together,
equipped themselves with a circular
saw, a chime of cow bells, and a
band of horns, and s«t up a frightful
din in front of the deacon’s house
several hours after the old gentleman
and hi* bride had retired.
The first alarm brought the dea¬
con to Ihe d«*or. The serenade™ ex
I^K'ted a storm of righteous wrath to
burst uptfft their heads, and were pre¬
pared to DH’et it with a tempest of
horn, saw acd cow 1x41.
“Gentlemen," said a mild voice,
“won’t you come iu?"
A hush fell upon the crowd, and
they stared in silent wonder at each
other.
That couldn’t be the deaeon !
They drew nearer and took a bet
