Home of ihe republican journals are
determined that Got. Lowery and the
people of Miiwitoippi shall haVe no credit
for cufurcing the Uwr ogaintt the | rizo
fighters. The New York Tribune says:
“Hullivan is treat**! in Mississippi with
all the consideration which no distin¬
guished a criminal deserves- It seems
to be generally expected tlmt his only
punlslimwfit will liea fine. I’liis would
indeed lie a pitiful outcome of all the
fiuw made over his capture. A tine, and
even a large one, would even be a mod
cat tax uftou the protits of the enterprise
and would put Mississippi Oh a level
with Texas, which is said to have passed
a law liccnsng prize-fights, for the ex
pn*HH purpose of turniug an honest pen¬
ny out df this very exhibition.”
Thin is on n j>ar with all that tbo Trib
ntic has said aUuit Mississippi in connec¬
tion with the HUllivan-Kilrain affair. It
first said that such brutal exhibitions as
prize fights could* only take place in a
southern state, bccansc public sentiment
of all the northern states wus against
tliefn. It sneered at Gov. I o .very's,offor.
to prevent the Hullivan-Kilmin fight in
MiHsissippt, and insinuated that it was
not genuine. When it found that the
governor was in earnest it changed its
tactics, and is now trying to create the
impression that the best classes of peo¬
ple in Mississippi regard Sullivan ns a
hero, and that public sentiment there
will insist that his punishment shall be a
light fine.
It is evident that the Tribune is not
disposed to do cither Gov. Lowery or
lho ^ [o ot ***»*& i ,lst,cc - Jt
" S f, “ ,wl by a spirit of liatred of every
thing that relates to the south. In view
the fact that in New York it was cot
l* M * K *bU-* to find a jury that would con
vict the boodle aldermen, it ought not
l^ Lav ^ anything to say about the on
cement of lho law in Mississippi
against prize fighting. Hellivan and
othe.rs will be punished for violating the
law of Mississippi. Tlio law in New
York against the acceptance of bribes
by public officials w as not enforced.—

Cancer
is a form of blood poison which Js not
lUiderstKhl by the medical profession as
to its real nature and character, but it is
evidently hereditary in its nature. It
inay accidently develop itself without
any predisposition or evidence of such
existing poison. The knife or caustic
salves have heretofore been the so-called
remedies for it, but all honest practition¬
ers will tell you that this remedy fails to
cure, and ouly hastens fatal results.
Thousands of ctsos of epithelomia (akin)
cancers and jj great many eases of scir
rhus cancers have l»eeu entirely cured by
tlio use of Swift's Specific. It forces the.
poison out through the cancer itself, and
the pores of the skin.
My father had cancer; my husband

other applications, ami finally tried to

than ever, growing larger and more an

Specific. 1 took the medicine and it
