ner of this county, are as follows;
Last Saturday evening, 17th inst, at
tlm plantation of Mr. Oscar Sanders, ton
miles eobt of Fort Gaines, several young
colored men, lielonging on tho place,
were anmsiug themselves, wrestling and
jumping, when one of them, John Walk¬
er, pointed a pistol, which he habitually
carried with him, at his brother, Lem
Walker, “iu fun,” certain, he says, that
the weapon was empty. The pistol was
cocked, and, when the hammer fell,
fired, the ball taking effect in tho back
of Lem’s head, causing instant death.
.. Mr. Owens was sent for, a jury empan
itelled, and, after an inquest was held,
n verdict was rendered, to tho effect

a pistol shot, fired by his brother John,
