ArA,ordinance calling for an election
for School Bonds. \
Be it ordained by the City Council
of Douglas and it is hereby ordained
by the authority of the same, that an
election be called to be held at the
Court house in said city on the 6th day
of October, 1906, between the usual
hours fixed by law, at which there shall
be submitted to the qualified voters of
said city, whether or not the proper
authorities of said city shall issue bonds
to the amount y of Five Thousand
[55,000.00] Dollars for the purpose of
improving and building additional school
buildings in the City of Douglas, Ga.
Said bonds to be each for the sum ol
$500,00 Dollars, principal dated the Ist
day of November 1906, and due and
payable Thirty years from date there
of, and bearing interest at the rate of
5 per cent per annum, said interest be
ing due and payable annually, on the
first oayof November of each and every
year thereafter.
Be it further ordained that the mat
ter contained in this ordinance is ur
gent and that the same be published
by entry on the minutes.
Be it further ordained by the author
ities aforesaid that due notice of this
election be advertised for thirty days
next preceeding said election, in the
paper in which the Sheriff’s sales are
published to-wit: The Douglas Enter
prise.
The following resolution was offered
and adopted:
Resolution.
Be it resolved by the Mayor and
Board of Aldermen of the City of Doug
las; and it is hereby resolved and or
dained by authority of the same, that
the Mayor of said City, and the City
Clerk, be and they are hereby author
ized and empowered to make, sign,
seal, and execute a promissory note, to
be dated August 25tn, 1906, due nine
ty days after date, bearing interest at
8 per cent per annum for the sum of
$1,000.00, in favor of the Union Bank
ing Co., of Douglas. Ga. Which said
note is to be given for a loan of
$1,000,00 from said Banking Co., of
said City of Douglas, to be used for
Current expenses.
