The ezcursion season was open
ed this week. One from La-
Grange to Brunswick, over the
A. B. & A., undone from Thomas
ville to Savannah, over the coast
line. Every thing seems to
move toward deep, cool water
now.
These safes and assassinations
by negroes, of white women and
men should be stopped. For
near forty years the thing has
grown, and there is a remedy
some how, as sure as guris iron.
Let it be applied.

The famous Green and Gay

for seven years, and in which
the government of the United
States has been defrauded to the
amount of over one million dol

years at hard labor has been af
j firmed by the Federal court, the

R. F. D. Notes.
On the 24th, and 25th, we had
an inspector with us who stirred
up things generally. He went
over entire route No. 1 and part
ly over No. 2,
He came with the intention of
putting routes 2 and 3 on half
trim but by earnest entreaty with
a promise on behalf of the patrons
to best in themselves he gave us
more time in which to supply the
deficiency. We can easily supply
the deficiency if those who need
boxes will buy them and others
get their mail with their neigh
bors. Every family should take j
at least one county and one state
pager. He is to come back July
18th, and will likely make the
change if the patrons don’t all
get busy and buy the boxes
which they need and ad a few
more papers. This is not idol
talk but facts which should be
heeded now.

Flogged for Idleness.
Down in “South” Georgia a
man was whipped by supposed
neighbors because he wouldn’t
work. Can “North” Georgia
beat that?—Columbus Enquirer-
Sun.
Possibly the party flogged was
a man from North Georgia who 1
wouldn’t work and who expected
to grow up with the country with-.
out doing anything. World’s
Work says that the only men who
don’t prosper in the South is the
man who comes here and who is
not able to do anything. South
Georgia wants doers and builders,
not dead beats and bums. This
would be a good way to enforce
vagrancy laws. —Sav. Press.
Reports come to us that the
northwest was visited by a bliz
zard last Sunday. That’s noth
ing—there’s a young lady in
Douglas who is visited by a Bliz
zard ever now and then.
Two negres, one armed with a
pistol and one with a knife, went
to the house of a prominent farm
er in Richmond county last Mon
day night to assissinate him, j
knccked on the front door, was
answered and they told him to
come out, which he did. But as
he suspected something he camp
out at the back door, went round
the house, and sure enough found
them on the steps waiting. He
shot the one with the pistol dead
when the negro armed with a
knife attacked him and in the
fight he was put out of business.
The farmer was not hurt.
The Bainbridge Search Light
call attention to the fact that
since the abolition of bar-rooms
a smaller force of policemen are
necessary to keep order in that
city. This is the case every
where, neighbor.
On inquiry and investigation
we are informed that the Nash
ville Base Ball Team was treated
well and fairly. We hope they
will think so too, come to see us
again, bring their knitting and
stay long enough to know us
better. It is a pity these friendly
games so often cause hard feel
ings.

With proper care those same bad
boys can be made into good men.
Many good men were once bad

comes near “hitting the nail on
