The Georgia court of appeal-;«

The court holds that a person

as tale-makers,” says the court,

effect and make people more
careful of their remarks.
As the Dublin Courier Dispatch
says, "it ought to put a stop to
the mamy slanders that are heard
every day in regard to the char
acter of women. In some sections
of the country, in this day and
time, the character of no woman
is safe from assault." If she is
at all guilty of indiscreet conduct
which may he the only way she
had erred, there are many who
will accept the naked charge as
a proof of guilt and blacken her
soul as much as they can. Under
the above decision any person
who makes remarks concerning
women must prove what they
allege if they escape a damage
suit. How many who circulate
slanderous remarks can do thisSg
‘‘Another bad habit that
of the people have got into, mell
and women alike, is to tear theitl]
neighbor’s character all manner
of evil to those they do not like.
Such persons had best beware in
the future.
The court has laid down the
law now, and charges must be
proved if any person escapes.”
