' The Agricultural School.
One of the greatest pieces of legislation that our state has had
for a long time was the establishment of the eleven agricultural
schools in Georgia. We believe that this seep means more for the
general welfare and development of the state than anything that
has been done for many years and this has been appreciated by the
general public more than anything that has been done. Much in
terest has been taken in the location and the building of these schools
and it was left for the enterprising people of Coffee county to en
thuse new life into the movement, by bidding the highest and most
creditable bid for the one to be located in the 11th district. It took
hard Work to get it, as Ocilla and Waycross had almost equal bids
and but for ouv location would have won from us. When we had
set the pace, other places did as well and some even better than
we did for the establishment of these schools, seeing our earnest
activity in the matter, they were awaken and went to work in earn
est. Our bid for the school gave it a new meaning and those who
had before then given very little attention begun to get interested
and an impetus was given to the project that will carry it on to
success. There is nothing that the good people of the county are
more interested in than the complete success of the 11th district
Agricultural school and there is every reason for believing that this
will be the very best school of the eleven.
We believe that the people of the county will stand by this
school, the very best institution that Coffee county, or any other
county can have. The young people are the hope of the country
and every thing should be done to prepare them for the battles of
life that will not be too easy at best. The people of Coffee county
are for the school and will stand by it.

The Farmer’s Union.
There was an erroneous report that the Farmers’ Union had
passed resolutions condemning the fair and that they wpuld have
nothing to do with it, but on the other hand would do all that was
possible to detract from it. We are glad to say that this was a false
report and that any harm that came from it will soon pass and that
the farmers organization is held in as high esteem by the people
of the county as ever. It has also been reported that there was a
concerted action among the farmers who were members of the
Union fighting the agricultural school. We are glad to find that
this reeort is also erroneous. The farmers organization is the best
thing of the kind that the world has ever seen and it is the duty of
the large farming class of people to organize and stand together
ad by this means subserve their interests. Ail large bodies or
clas.-es of people do this and it is right. This Union is the strongest
that the farmer has ever had and the National and state officers
are men of strength and are able to make the organization a successs.
We are glad that we know personally every one of these officers
and regard them among the best men that we know. They are
determined to mak- the organization a success and will do it/ The
organization has never been very strong in this county, but some
of the best citizens of the county are members and they feel that
they are enlisted in a good work for their fellow farmer and them

Good Officers.
Coffee county and Douglas has
the best officer ; -o be found in
Sheriff Ricketson, his Deputy,
Berry Anderson, and Douglas in
her Chief of Police Moore. It
is a pleasure to live in a town
and county that has such officers
as these. They attend strictly
to business and know no one in
the discharge of tber du:y. If
you do not want to get into trouble
you had better stay out of
trouble, as Dave, Berry and our
tall pine of Seventeen will be
sure to get you. Many child is
being put to sleep by telling
them that Dave Ricketson or
Berry Anderson will get them.
The people appreciate these of
ficers.
