To Build a Heuse in Twelve Hours
Miss Elina Cain, editor of the
Quitman Free Press, who is now
in New York, contributes an in
teresting article to her paper as
the result of an interview with
Thos. A. Edison, the great inven
ter. Miss Cain says Mr. Edison
is now working on a plan to build
a six room two-story house in
twelve hours. Speaking of his
scheme Mr. Edison said:
“The idea is to make a house
of cement by pumping the cement
into an iron mould of the house.
There will be only a hole at the
top of the mould for the cement,
and when the moulds overflows
the house will be complete, even
to the roof. Then the mould can
be unlocked and taken down.
I want'-the house to be finished
in twelve hours, even to the
dormer windows of the attic, ar.d
the flower pots on either side of
of the veranda steps.”
The interior, Mr. Edison ex
plained, would be made in the
one mould—the walls, staircase,
khe mantels, the bathtubs, the
plumbing, places for electric
wiring, for door hinges. He is
even experimer.ring with con
crete window sashes. But there
will be a strip of wood around
the rooms to tack carpets to in
this concrete castle.
