Out of Town Society | PEARSON DOTS. i °— —O Farmers are busy in this section fighting grass. Several of our boys left last week for Macon to join the army. Quite a number of the Pearson boys went to Pablo Sunday. Mrs. J. B. White Ic-ft last Monday for St. Augustine and other points in Florida. She will visit her son, Mr. Gaineo White, of Key West, be fore she returns to Pearson. Mr. Silas M eeks is with us now. He is making us a fine road from Pearson to McDonald. Mr. J. B. White, of McDonald, vis. ited his family at this place Satur day and Sunday. There is a certain girl here that likes to stay at Mr. Kin Griffis’. I wonder why. O O + PEARSON TRIBUNE DOTS. ± o o Mrs. T. G. Hamilton is visiting rel atives in and near Douglas this week. Wm. Smith and T. G. Hamilton took in the alumni banquet of Geor gia Normal Institute at* Douglas on Tuesday night. Miss Goldy Brown, cf Douglas, ar rived in Pearson last Saturday on a visit of some length to the home of Mr, and Mrs. Jack Henderson, just out of town. In its last issue the Douglas En terprise presents a picture of the Georgia Normal College and Business Institute. This institution is Coffee county’s pride and the state’s great est asset in educational training for young people. Douglas enertained last week roy ally the Epworth League of South Georgia. Over 200 league officials and workers were present. « o X FARES NEWS % (> O Mr. Willie Adams made a flying trip to Douglas Monday. Preaching at Jowcrs Chapel Sat urday and Sunday was well attend ed, and everybody reported a nice time. The singing school a Jowers Chap el will close next Saturay. There will be preaching at Uncle Dan Murray’s next Sunday. Every body invitd. Miss Emma Lou Adams was a pleasant visitor at the home of Miss Maggie Clements Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold and family visited Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Adams and family Sundry. Mr. Kin Carver was a pleasant vis itor at the home of Mr. R. H. Adams Sunday. Better come, Uncle Jim. Miss Lessie Harper spent awhile with Miss Cothern Davis on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Cowart s spending a few days j with her mother, Mrs. Tanner, and j Mrs. Cowart’s baby is still very sick. ! Has been for some tmie, but hope it will soon be well. Misses Annie Belle and Pearl Scars Messrs. Lawrence Gillis, Warren Ward, William and Aaron Starling and Warren Tanner, were all guests of Miss Mattie Hutchinson on Sunday afternoon. Misses Mary Sears and Eula Mae McDaniel, went to the singing con vention at Alma Sunday, and report a nice time. Mrs. Harrison Tanner spent Sat urday night with her daughter, Mrs. Clayton Adams. Dinner was spread on the ground for all present, and plenty of refreshments and good singing. Prof. Maine will begin a school at Blystone school house on Monday morning for six days. The rain and hail here Thursday afternoon did but very little damage to the crops. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hester, from the Hester mill at Willacoochee, were visitors in this community the first of the week. Miss Martha Keith is spending the week in Douglas as the guest of Miss Margaret Hurley. Messrs. Wm. Maine and H. I). Min ix, Jr., attended a sing near Nicholls Thursday of last week. Miss Aline O’Steen was the guest of Miss Addie O’Steen of Douglas, a few days recently. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Maine attended the singing convention at Alma alst Sunday. The baby of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Grantham, Jr., was buried at the Rocky Pond cemetery this week. The little one had suffered much pain through life. May God’s blessings rest upon the bereaved mother and father. Mesdames G. W. and J. F. Hesters and Miss Martha Keith, were visiters of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Maine Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Harper, Jr., and children visited Mrs. J. Barnes of Douglas, Sunday. Mrs. Marvin Barnes, of Augusta, arrived Sunday to spend three or four weeks with friends and relatives in Douglas and Salem. Mr. Sampie Smith conducted the preaching at Wolf Pit ir. Bacon coun ty, Sunday. Mr. J. OSteen and family attended the camp meeting at Gulley Branch this week. The protracted meeting will begin at Salem Thursday night before the third Sunday in July. Everybody in vited to attend. Miss Annie Carver is spending sev eral weeks near Ambrose with rela tives and friends. Most of the farmers in this section are enjoying eating watermelons and peaches. Miss Trixie Exum, of Douglas, was the guest of Miss Maude Corbitt last week. Miss May Kelly, of Sparks, visited friends in the city Saturday. Mrs. J. B. Oberry is visiting her daughter, Mrs. .J F. Ward, in Jack sonville, this week. Dr. Henry Corbitt and Mr. Frank Summerlin went up to Macon Satur day and enlisted in the army for two years. Miss Leonora Linder left Wednes day for an extended trip to Newr.an and other points in North Georgia. Mrs. 0. R. Brwon and daughter, Frances, left Saturday for Jackson for a visit to her parents. Miss Clyde McCranie visited her aunt, Mrs. J. M. Dent, in Douglas last week. Miss Etta Roberts, of Douglas, spent the week-end with Miss Flor ence Sears. Mr. and Mrs. John Roberts and Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Roberts visited friends here Saturday and Sunday. Quite a party of our young people attended the ice cream supper at Pinebloom Saturday evening. Mrs, L. H. Shellhouse and Miss Mattie Gaskin left Tuesday morning for a visit to Augusta and South Carolina. Mrs. W. T. Singleton, who has been visiting in Albany, returned to her home Saturday. Miss Clara Belle Henderson, of Brookfield, is visiting Miss Gussie Roberts. Mr. B. G. Oberry, Jr., returned from Athens Tuesday. O O McDonald news. o .0 Mrs. R. A. Cook and son, of Hazle hurst, are visiting her sister, Mrs. Joe McDonald, this week. Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Mathews are visiting in Cooledge this .week. Preaching last Sunday by Rev. •Jonh Sharp was much enjoyed by a large crodw. Miss Edna McDonald gave a tacky party last Thursday evening. Miss Julia Boone and Mr. Ernest Hunter were awarded prizes for being dress ed the most tacky, and it is reported the balance of the participants should have had prizes, as they were tacky some. C. R. Messrs. E. J. Sweat, Quitman Vick ers and Joe Burch, of Ambrose, dined with W\ L. Fussell Sunday. Mr. J. M. Freeman, of Douglas, did not attend camp meeting at Bethayn Sunday. Bro. Walthal, of Arkansas, preach ed to a large crowd Sunday and Sun day night at Bethany. Quite a number of visitors in these woods now attending camp meeting. Can’t name them all. Walter Veal and Guilford Stapleton made a business trip to Wray Tuesday. Mrs. M. C. Jowers spent Tuesday night with her uncle, Mr. T. E. Caves. Mrs. M. C. Jowers expects to leave in a few days for a visi to her sister at Cordele. Mr. D. J. Paulk, of Ambrose, was a guest of Mr. Dave Buchan Sunday. Mr. P. L. Wilson dined with Mr. Dave Buchan Sunday. Miss Vide Ricketson visited Mrs. Walter Veal Tuesday. Mr. Reason Ricketson has just re turned from a visit to his sister, Mrs. Right, of West Green.
