Lester Walker and Simon Sweat, of Patterson, spent several hours in the city on Thursday. The new stores of the* Sibbett block are nearing completion and will be ready for occupancy by Sept. 15. ' About twelve couples enjoyed a dance at the home, of Miss Dorothy Mathews on last Tuesday evening. . Misses Venita Vickers and Ruby Haddock are spending some time at the Indian Springs camp meeting. Mr. Troy Whatley has returned to his home in Reynolds after, spending several days with Carlyle McDonald. Miss Sarah Vfoodard has as her guests this week, Misses Bernice and Alice Woodard, of Hattiesburg, Miss. Mrs. Tom Davis and Mr. J. F. Overstreet went over to Waycross Thursday to see Mrs. G. Wash Lott. The Enterprise is indebted to Mr. J. E. Maine for a stalk of sugar cane which he brought to this office Tues day. Mr. E. L. Bledsoe, of Broxton, has been spending several days in the city being engaged on the jury revising work. Misses Nannie and Lelia Jardine Have returned from Brunswick and St. Simons where they spent about five weeks. Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Roberts, Mrs. C. W. Roberts, Mrs. A. F. Peterson and Miss Miriam Kirkland are spending several weeks in jAsheville and other Carolina points going up in Mrs. Peterson’s new car. Opal Vickers and Jack Vickers en tertained their young friends at a birthday party this week. Quite a number were present to enjoy a pleas ant afternoon. Mrs. J. L. Shelton and Misses Mary, 'Evelyn and Margaret Shelton, and Francis and John Dart, have return ed from a week’s visit to St. Simons and Brunswick. Quite a number of Douglasites left last night for Atlanta to spend a day or so, taking advantage of the cheap rates offered by the A. B. & A. for this occasion. Mr. Jim Kirkland and family have mert'ed Winokur, in Wayne county, where he has purchased a large planta tion. His residence here is occupied by Conductor Rich. Misses Clyde McCranie arid Frankie Howell, who have beei\ spending some time as the guests of Mrs. J. *M. Dent, have returned to their respect ive homes in Willicoochee and Ocilla. Miss Lillian Price entertained sev eral couples ith a dance last Thurs day evening- Delicious punch was served throujmout the evening, and a most enjoyable event it proved to be. Miss Maud Lee Bryan enertained, the members ofher Sunday School class on Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Delicions refreshments were served consisting of iced tea and sand T wiches. Mrs. Tom Baily and children are spending seme time in the city as the guests of Mr. J. S. Lott and Judge W. C. Lankford’s family. They will return to their home in St. Peters burg, Fla., next week. Mrs. H. W. Dyer and daughters, Mrs. Caldwell and Misses Annie and Dorothy Dyer, spent several days at St.. Simons and Brunswick this week, returning Thursday night. They went to Brunswick in Mrs. Caldwell’s car. Misses Cliforci and Evelyn Wilson entertained their friends at an infor mal dance Monday evening on the Ashley terrace in honor of their cous in, Miss Francis Holland, of Lakeland, Fla. There were about thirty five young people present. : We regret to announce the illness of Rev. T. S. Hubert who has been cofined to his bed for several days. It is not known yet whether he will be able to hold services the following Sunday. Today, however, he is re opited as being much better. A wedding of much interest took place lastJjfriday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Wlison on Ward street, when Miss Goldie Brown, daughter of Mrs. Wilson, was mar ried to Mr. J. R. Jardine, of this city, lhe ceremony being performed by Rev. M. A. Morrison, of the Methodist yhureh. The bride is a favorite with Doug las people having lived here many years. Her friends are numbered by her acquaintances and she has many. The groom is a young man of splen did habits and well and favorably known in the city, being a member of the well kown Douglas Foudry and Machine Works. The young couple are receiving the congratulation of their many friends along with which goes the best wishes of The Enterprise. Mr. N. Ginsberg, who has been I head clerk at the Boston Store, left this week for New York and Balti more, to be away about two weeks I onbusiness.
