Dr. L. G.Hardman will be an honor guest in
the city next Thursday. It is up to Douglas to
give the well known Georgian a royal reception,
whether all of the individuals expect to vote
for him or not. He is making a wonderful
campaign, has great strength in this county,
cod will be far from the fourth man in Coffee
said the state on Sept. 12.
There are thirteen candidates for the three
new places on the court of Appeals. Among
this number, we have Judge Walter George, of
Vienna, right at our very door, and we hope that
Coffee county will give him their vote. He is
one of the ablest, jurists in Georgia, and an up
right man in every respect. His record as Sup
erior court judge in his circuit is one of the best
the state has ever had.

THE RAILROAD STRIKE.
What seemed to be a very dark cloud in the
question of the proposed railroad strike, has
clarified to some extent this morning, although
the matter has not been definitely settled yet. It
is simply pushed ahead of us a few' weeks, whiie
congress is trying to adjust the differences.
It was scheduled to take place next Monday
morning at 6 o’clock, and preparations for the
acute situation it would bring about, was being
made and is still be made, in an effort to forstall
in some degree the untold suffering the strike
would bring on. It would probably have lasted
a week or ten days, and there is no estimating
the results of it until we have met it face to
face. Ju>t what the final outcome would have
been, and what it will be, should congress fail
in their efforts, no one can predict.
The Enterprise don’t like to be pessimistic,
and we generally are not, but to our minds this
is a very serious condition of affairs, and when
it starts, it is iike a snow ball, gets bigger as
it rolls along. Complication after complication
may set in, other unions may join in or follow
suit, and the old threadworm story of capital
and labor war, may be at our very door.
It is the opinion of many far sighted men
that should the strike take place, then it will
be a fight to the finish. Some figure it out that
this big strike question has grown to such
stupendous proportions in the last decade, that
the climax has got to come sooner or later, and
it might as well be settled now and for all time.
It is one of the great questions of the day. It
is a problem to be solved, and while we tremble
at the thought of a tv.nl experiencing it, it is
a foregone conclusion that a final settlement
must be reached some day in the near future,
and now is about as good a time to settle it as
any other. President Wilson has acted his part
nobly and used every effort in trying to bring
about a settlement, but it seems that he is
powerless. Congress may do something today
or tomorrow, but it now looks like they will have
to pass it up.
In the meantime, every enterprise is making
preparations for the worst, but with our lights
all trimmed and burning, it will be a dismal hour
for America.
u
We never could figure out how these candid
ates could make their rounds should strikecome.
No trains aiui no gas, but you can bet they
would find the voter, if they had to crawl.

Jet Bowden says that he will sweep the dis
trict, beating his nearest opponent over 3000
votes. Jet will carry his home county in a
storm, and he may get 3000 in the district.
0
They are all after Hugh Dorsey. That is
the candidates. The voters will make their
decision on next Tuesday week, and we believe,
fom reports from all sections, that he will sweep
the state, similar to the time Hoke Smith run
away with Howell, Estill, et al.
