STEWART GIVES REASONS ' FOR HIS RE-ELECTION (Continued fron First Page) for what happened in the Senate. 4th.—He has cut out a number of unnecessary offices and placed others on salaries which saves our county thousands of dollars annually. sth.—He has abolished the county treasurer’s office which fias been an un necessary burden upon the taxpayers for years. Instead of this ofli e now being a burden and an expense of $2500 per year, commencing January Ist it will pay the cqunty a snug in come and the people’s money will be safer than it was under the old system fith. —His bill increasing the appro priations for district agricultural schools gives to the farm boys and girls of Georgia fifty-five thousand dollars a year which they have been losing, fiye thousand dollars of same comes direct to Douglas and Coffee County. 7th. —His fight before the appro priations committee and on the floor of the house at the extra session of the legislature was the cause of an in crease of one hundred and fifty thou sand dollars in the appropriations for the common schools of Georgia. Bth.—He has distributed to the far mers of Coffee county over three thou sand dollars worth of free seed, and had the quarantine lifted against cot ton seed shipments last fall which saved our farmers thousands of dol lars. 9th.—He voted and worked for the bill increasing the pensions for Con federate soldiers, which increases their pensions to SIOO during the next four years. 10th; —He hasalways stood and vot ed with the people. JONES ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR A JUDGESHIP ON THE COURT OF APPEALS Prominent Augustan Accedes To Request of His State- Wide Circle of Friends. It will be a source of great gratifi cation to his many friends all over the state to know that Col. Henry S. Jones, of Hepzibah and Augusta, has consented to have his name presented to the people of Georgia as candidate for one of the newly-appointed judge ships on the Court of Appeals. Colonel .'ones, who is a native Geor gian, has lived all of his lite in this state and ha- always devoted himself to its best interests. He has been ery active both in his public and re ligious endeavors, and has acquired a well-deserved reputation for un swerving integrity and devotion to duty. Colonel Jones has practiced law in Richmond County for over thirty years, and it is a tribute to his hon esty and ability that at this time the Bar of Richmond County has unani mously and urgently endorsed him for the position of Judge of the Court of Appeals. As further evidence of the esteem in which Colonel Jones is held, it is interesting to note that he has re ceived the unqualified endorsement of all three of the Representatives from Richmond County. Colonel Jones is a man of splendid education and firm religious princi ples, being a graduate of Mercer Uni versity and having held many respon sible positions in the church. He is also very prominent in Masonic cir cles. In 1909 he was elected Vice- President of the Georgia Anti-Saloon League and President of the Richmond cord is an open book, and we point to it with pride, and his experience in legislative matters insures us greater things for the future, and we believe that he will be re-elected by the great est majority in the history of the County Law Enforcement Committee. Colonel Jones has always been a loyal and active Democrat, and has been Chairman of the Democratic Ex ecutive Committee of Richmond Coun ty for four years.
