The reelection of President Wilson on last Tuesday has proven conclusive ly that the north and east no longer I control the balance of power in presi ! dential races. They are no longer the big factor in a presidential race, hav ing been supplanted by the growing south and west. For many years it took New York to win. Now t a president can win without the great state. The west is to be reckoned with in the future, and if these two great sections of the country will stand together, as they did this time, the north and east may nominate who they please, and vote solidly for him, but they cannot win. j Wilson great service to the country during the past four years had the most to do with his election. As has been said, he is a bigger man than his party. His politics must be right for they hav e been endorsed by a majori ty of the voters. He has made a great president and the country is to be congratulated on his endorsement for 1 a second term. ***** THE FAIR NEXT WEEK. The big Coffee County Fair is at hand. The gates will be thrown open next Tuesday morning, and one of the best shows in the history of this asso ciation, will be pulled off next week. The great agricultural and poultry display will be the best the Fair has ever had. The ladies will also have on<> of the best displays they have lever had. The midway will be the I biggset in its history, for the manage. I ment has contracted for the famous Dominion Shows, and in itself, it is a •midway uneaqualed on the road. I The racing promises to be first class in every respect. Many well known horses have been entered and this feature will be worth going miles to see. Then the air flights daily will be thrilling and no doubt will draw large crowds. So get ready to enjoy this week of festivity. It will be the biggest week in the history of Douglas and Coffee County, and everybody will be here to see you. You will meet your old friends here and make many new ones, ,besides seeing the greatest fair that has ever been held in Georgia this year. ***** Superintendent bloyd is to be con gi’atulated on the excellent manner he Las handled the opening of the county schools. Every one of them is well supplied with a good teacher and everything opened on time. THE DOUGLAS ENTERPRISE. DOUGLAS, GEORGIA, NOV. 11 1916. JOHN ROBINSON CIRCUS HERE NEXT TUESDAY “I hate to see a circus with so many rings and acts. In a big show there is so much to look at that one keeps bobing one’s head all over the big tent, with the result that ane doesn’t see a tenth of the pcrformence. I should rather attend an old-fashioned, one ring circus, where I can see everything well.” In all parts of the country the above | sentiment i s oftentimes expressed, iwhen a big circus is billed to appear. I This is true, where the management of a big show mixes all sorts of acts to gether in a crazy concoction. But John Robinson’s Ten Big Shows, which will exhibit in Douglas, Tuesday, Nov. 14th. afternoon and evening, although one of America’s largest amusement institutions, offer no ground for such a complaint. The experienced manage ment of the great John Robinson’s Ten Big Shows long since remedied this evil. A circus program is made up of what is termed as “displays.” A dis play is a series of acts given simultane ously in the rings, on the elevated ! stages, in the air and on the hippo- i drone. Instead of the display being \ j composed of several diverse acts, as !is often th e case in circuses, John Rob j inson’s Ten Big Shows’ displays are j made up of acts of the same kind. For instance, if a male or female eques- j tian act is being given in ring No. 1, i the very same kind of feature will be I found in the other rings. If a group j of aerialists appear at one end of the dome of the great tent, another group | will be presented at the opposite end. I thus it is possible for th e spectators at one extremity of the canvas to see practically the same perfomrances that the people in the far end witness. FOR SALE.
