Lankford made a busi ness trip to Atlanta this week. Mrs. J. H. Jordan will be hostess to the Outlook Club to-morrow. Mrs. C. E. Shelton, of Atlanta, is the guest of Mrs. W. F. Sibbett. Mr. D. C. Ashley, of Valdosta, was a visitor to the city this week. Little J. C. Relihan is recovering from a recent, attact of measles. Mrs. W. A. Little has returned from Ohio and Newport News. Col. E. L. Grantham made a pro fessional trip to Savannah this week. Mrs. W. H. Bailey has as her guest this week, Mrs. Paulk, of Fitzgerald. Mrs. G. R. Moore spent a few days in Atlanta this week on legal business. Mrs. Warren Lott left this week to make an extensive visit to relatives in Jacksonville. Judge and Mrs. F. W. Dart and children spent Thanksgiving with rela tives at Alamo. Judge Benj. T. Allen, of Pearson, was among the legal fraternity in the city this week. M*. and Mrs. S. M. Roberts, Miss Mary, and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. McLane, spent Sunday in Abbeville. Mrs. John McLean and Mrs. Avera Moore are visiting their brother in Hazlehurst, who is quite ill. Arrington, of Richland, have moved to Douglas and have rooms with Mr. Geo. Crowder. Mrs. Love has returned from a trip to Ocilla and was accompanied home by her daughter, Mrs. Tom Tucker. Mrs. Mabel Webb, of Chappell, S. C., is spending a few days as the guest of her brother, Mr. Leslie R. Squires. Solicitor M. I). Dickerson returned home fiom Waycross Thursday night where he has been in service at Ware Superior court. Rev. H. M. Morrison and Messrs. L. E. Heath and Levi O’Steen have re turned from Thomasville where they attended conference. McDonald has as her guests this week, Mr. and Mrs. Thur man Whatley and daughter, Mrs. J. H. Whatley and Miss Bonnie New some, of Reynolds. A number o fDouglasites went down to Waycross Thursday afternoon and participated in the gaiety of the great Prosperity Week which has been un der way there since Monday. The Enterprise is in receipt of a card from Mr. W r . L. Rogers, who is in Windsor, Canada. He expects to be home in a few days, and adds that he won’t enlist while he is there. Hon. W. A. Dodson, of Americus, spent Tuesday in the city. Mr. Dod son has a number of friends here, and he is well known throughout Georgai, having served) as president of the state senate in years gone by. Mayor G. M. Stanton left Monday for Atlanta to be with his wife who was operated on there tnis week. Dr. of this city, also went up to conduct the operation. At this time Mrs. Stanton is in a very critical con dition, we regret to report. “Rev. H. M. Morrison, who comes to Second Street, has for the last two years been pastor of our church in Douglas, Ga. He is in the full ma turity of his powers, and has succeed ed with every work the church has ever given him to do. A few years ! ago he made a record as presiding elder of the Valdosta district, which has never been surpassed by any other in the conference. He 5s particularly noted for his deep consentration, which impresses all who know him. He will undoubtedly do a great work at Sec ond Street. —Macon Telegraph. W. C. T. U. The next meeting of the W. C. T. U. will be posponed until the first Friday after the second Sunday in January. A LARGE RECEPTION'. Mrs. J. N. McDonald entertained at a reception this afternoon given in honor of Miss Mary Stanton, a bride of the near future. Mrs. McDonald’s home was respon dent in its decorations and splendid appointments. She was assisted in receiving by Miss Mary Stanton and her sister,Mrs. T. 0. Galloway, of | Barnesville. Miss Stanton was gowned in white crepe Georgia, with fur trimmings and Mrs. Galloway in blue charmeuse. About fifty ladies called during the afternoon. ! WOMAN’S CLUB. The regular meeting of the Woman’s Club was held Thursday and a splen did program carried out, and a full membership present. As supplementary work, the mem bers are discussing current topics at each meeting. On Thursday the sub ject was the boll weavil, at the next meeting, as was announced, the ladies will discuss submarines, after the reg ular program is carried out. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. There will be morning service at the Presbyterian church Sunday. Every body invited. BROWN-JOWERS. A very quiet wedding took place at the home of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Wilson, in this city, when Miss May Brown and Mr. Sam Jowers, of Fitzgerald, were married, the cere | mony being performed by Ordinary jW. P. Ward. The young couple left on th e after moon train for Fitzgerald their future ;home, and whee Mr. Jowers is employ ed at the A. B. & A. shops. SPECIAL NOTICES.
