Careful working of a young pine
forest for turpentine will not ar
rest its growth. It will produce
more gum in its twentieth year
than in its first year of working,
and then do it for another twenty
years more. Then it will be first
class lumber stumpage!
Ordinary working of a pine
forest for turpentine will produce
the most gum the first year, and
make second-class lumber stump
age out of it in five years!
Give one young man ten thou
sand dollars and he will be broke
in five years. Give another the
same amount and he will be rich
in twenty years.
It is all in the way you handle
your money or your pine trees.
