S. Senator Thomas C. Platt and' Mrs. Lillian T. Janewav took place at the Holland house, on Saturday, the Urh. The ceremony was per formed in the presence of the imme diate members of Mr. Platt’s and Mrs. Janeway’s families. The senator said that he chose a pri vate ceremony to avoid the crush and annoyance of a public wedding. Sen ator and Mrs. Platt left the city Thursday evening for a short rip. —At the hearing before the ref eree in New York, Wednesday, in re gard to the stranded shipbuilding trust, Leroy Dresser swore that Schwab, former president of the steel trust, was responsible for the wreck of the concern. —“Elijah” Dowie, at the head of 3,000 crusaders, left Chicago Wednes day for an invasion of New York.
