How to Tell a Girl’s Age.
The young lady does the figuring.
Tcir her to put down the number of
the month she was horn in, then
multiply it by 2, then add 5, multi
ply it by 50, then add her age, then
subtract 365, then add 115. Then
ask her the amount she has left.
The two ligures to the right will be
her age and the remainder the
month she was born iu.
For example, the number 118, she
is 18 years old and was born in the
first month (January).
A Pig's Tale.
Within a pen that was not big
A thrifty farmer kept a pig.
That piggy drank, the neighbors say,
A bucketful of milk fach day.
A bucketful—all that was in it—
He drank one day in Just a minute.
The man then grabbed him by the tail
And droppa'V > snug within the pail.
The pail cf milk was in the pig
And yet the contents were not lug
Enough to fully fill the pail
(The truth is strange, but must prevalf).
Although the piglet was not big
And though the pailful filled the pig.
The pigful did not fill the pail
And that's the end of piggy's tale.

Dead Sea to Be Enlivened.
It is believed that before very
long the Dead sea will be exploited
for industrial purposes. French en
gineers are now at work on three
different projects with this purpose
in view. The level of the Dead sea
being more than 1,800 feet below
that of the Mediterranean and the
Bed seas, it is thought that by con

means of a canal with the Dead sea
a stream of water would flow with a

Russia is not the only counH|
whose battles are fought by OtM
sacks. Turkey, too, has her slia»
of these fighters, and, as with Rus
sia, they are her best and most cruel
soldiers.
In Turkey they are called “Cliir
kasscs.” Their outrages on the
Christian peasants of Bulgaria,
when brought to light by the Amer
ican war correspondent, MacGaban,
caused the Itusso-Turkish war.
Since then they have not been so
much in evidence, being used in
Turkey’s Asiaticjmwinces.
