ner, J. M. Ashley, T. It. Marshall, all
of said state and county, respectfully
show;
Ist. That they desire for themselves,
their associates, successors and as
signs to become incorporated under the
.style of the Coil'ec Comity Fair Asso
ciation.
2nd. The term for which the peti
tioners ask to be incorporated is twen
ty years, with the privilege of renew
ing at the end of that time.
di d. The capital stock of the corpor
ation is to be Ten Thousand Dollars
($10,t»U0.00), divided into two thousand
shares of Five Dollars oach(ss.oo). and
may he increased any amount not to
exceed One Hundred Thousand Hol
lars. as provided for in the by-laws
to be adopted by said corporation.
Petitioners, however, ask the privilege
of organizing and commencing bus
iness as soon as Five Thousand Dol
lars $5,000.00 of the capital stock has
been subscribed for, and twenty per
cent of the Five Thousand Dollars
$5,000.00 is paid in.
4th. The object and purpose of the cor
poration is pecuniary protit and gain to
the stock-holders as well as the devel
opment and upbuilding of the agricul
tural, mechanical, industral and edu
cational interests of the county. The
special line of business petitioners
propose engaging in and undertaking
is the, holding of annual fairs in
said county with Douglas as the cen
tral office and place for holding said
fairs; but they ask the privilege of
holding their annual fairs at an v other
place in the county, upon a two-thirds
vote of the stock- loUlersowining stock
in said corporation*
sth. They desire to be given the
authority to buy and sell real estate
or personal property, to create such
obligations or enter into such con
tracts as may be necessary or desirable
to carry on the business of thecorpor
ation. and to be empowered to secure
said obligations and contracts in such
manner as may be determined by said
corporation. Also the right to take
notes, mortgages, deeds or other secur
ities from others for such obligations
as may be due said company; to have
authority to loan money, and to act as
agents for others in the transaction
of any business pertaining to said cor
poration* that they have the right to
have a common seal with such design
or device thereon as may be selected
by the board of directors.

We think our friend is mistaken
about “their controversy writ in
history,” but we are inclined to
believe the people remember them.
John thought he was right about
the questions as usual and we coulJ
not agree with him. He held up
his side the best he could—we
did likewise.

Mortgage Foreclosure.

Under and by virtue of a power of sale
contained in a mortgage executed by Ab
ner McDew, Jr., to Citizens Bank, dated
the 17th day of Feb., 1902, and recorded in
the office of the clerk of the superior court
of Coffee county, in book 9, folio 4S to 50,
the undersigned will sell at public outcry,
at the court-house door in said county,
during the legal hours of sale, to the high
est bidder for cash, oil the first Tuesday
in May, 1905, the following property to wit':
all that tract or parcel of land lying and
being in Coffee county, Georgia, ajpd more
particularly described as follows; twenty
three (23) acies of lot of land number three
hundred sixty two (362) in the first district
of originally Appling now Coffee county,
Ga., and bounded as follows: on the North
by‘lands of Ben Foster, East by lands of
Albert Hester, South by lands cf Madison
Smith, and West by original line. Said
twenty three (23) acres being situated in
the W est side of said tot. Also thirty
three (33) acres of lot of land number three
hundred sixty two (362) in the first district
of originally Appling now Coffee county,
and bounded as follows : on the North by
lands of Harriet Pearson, on the East by
lands of Merton Scad, on the South by
original line, and on the West by lands of
Madison Smith. Said thirty three (33)
acres being in the South half cf said lot.
Also ohe dark bay horse mule about
eight years old named “Jim.” for the pur
pose of paying a certain promissory note
for the sum of one hundred thirty three
($133.00) dollars, executed and delivered
by A McDew, Jr, to the Citizens Rank,
on the 17th day of February, 1902, anil due
on the Ist day" of November, 1902, stipula
ting for interest from maturity at the rate
of eight per cent, per annum, and ten per
cent, attorney’s fees, the total amount due
on said note being one hundred thirty
three ($133) dollars principal, twenty three
and 70 ets. ($23.70) dollars interest, fifty
cents (50 cts ) protest fee, and fifteen and
70cts. ($15.70) dollars attorney’* fees, to
gether with the cost of this proceeding, as
p ovided in said'mortgage. A deed to the
i purchaser will be made by the undersigned.

together is about fifty miles as near as can
be estimated.
4th. That the general direction of said
proposed extension is from west to east.
Otn. Your petitioner shows that said
pronosed amendment t its charter is
authorized by virtue of •*, ‘solution adopt
ed by a unanimous votcdyid consent of all
of the stock holders o said corporation,
and cy unanimous vote of the board ot
directors of the same.
Oth. Your petitioner further shows that
it has given the required notice as the law
directs of petitioner’s intent on to apply
for the amendment of its charter as herein
set forth by publication of this petition as
required by law.
Wherefore, your petitioner prays that
its said charter be amended as herein set
fourth, and that this application be allow
ed as an amendment to its charter as pro
vided for under the laws of the state of
Georgia.
