"JtS K. THE REVENUE OFFICER "
Blind Prophet’s Game.
The players stand in a row, one
behind the other. The second one
in the row lightly places her hands
over the leader’s eye and says:
“Prophet, how much of a prophet
art thou?”
At the same time another prophet
sneaks out of his or her place in the
row and touches the prophet’s hair
or cheek. The prophet then in
quires :
“Who disturbcth me?”
111 reply the disturber must make
some sound. She may cough or
grunt or moan or make any other
kind of sound she pleases.
The prophet must try to identify
the sound and say who it is. If
successful, the prophet is released
and the captured one must take the
place.
How to Make Spectral Lamp.
Mix common salt with spirits of
wine in a metallic cup and set it
over a spirit lamp. When the cup
is heated and the spirit ignited it
will burn with a strong yellow
flame, which can be made more or
less jaundiced by the greater or
smaller quantity of salt added. All
other lights being extinguished, this
will give to everything a ghastly
hue, changing the colors of dresses
in a remarkable manner and giving
to the rosy cheek of health the ca
daverous appearance of death.
If salt of strontain ho used in
stead of common salt, a red light is
produced.
Eskimo Candy.
In Eskimo land there is a kind j
of waterfowl called dovekio. It
is about the size of a duck and
quite black, with webbed feet of a
brilliant red color. When the men
have killed the dovekies the women
cut off their bright red feet and
draw out the bones. Then by blow
ing into the skins they distend them
as much as possible to form pouches.
When these arc thoroughly dried ,
they are filled with reindeer tallow, j
and the bright red packages are re- J
garded by the Eskimo children as
their greatest treat.
The Ocfor of Onions.
It is worth knowing that the odor
of onions may be almost entirely re
moved from the hands by rubbing
them with celery tops. This means
will also remove the odor from
dishes.
Toilet Soap.
Odds and ends of toilet soap
should be saved. Dried and pow
dered, mixed with bran or oatmeal
and filled into cheesecloth bags, they
make delightful accessories to the
hath. I

Dusting Furniture.
When dusting use a slightly damp
cloth, for it will gather up and hold
the dust far better than a dry one.
This plan, hbwever, should not bo
followed in t he case of black polish
ed furniture, as the damp cloth fre
quently gives it a smeared appear
ance.
Disinfect Invalids’ Linen.
A commoij cause for the spread
ing of disease is the fact that in
valids’ bedclothing is washed with
the common laundry. It should al
ways be dipped in a disinfectant be
fore being sent to the laundry.
A Blood Purifier.
The simplest blood purifier is a
sliced lemon, two tablespoonfuls of
blaelv currant preserve and ten red
sage leaves to a quart of boiling wa
ter. Sweeten to taste and it is not
disagreeable.
