vol. vi:. LOCAL SEWS The spring showers are upon us. Mr. J. T. Reliban went to Liberty Co-, on a visit Monday. Four feet Flora Lee tobacco for 25 cts at Ward Davis. Mr ,W .W DeLoach went to Sav annah this week on business.* For the past week the creeks have been boiling over in this section. Cold drinks at Prince’s. Pearson. Judge Dart returned from a trip to middle Georgia Friday. He reports progress. Hucks at Pearson sells bacon 7c. The Breeze is now doing some ele gant job work, and its prices are reasonable. Call on A. P. Plucks Pearson for a stove, Trunks at Princes, Pearson. Fresh candy and crackers at Princes, Pearson. Mr. Jack Henderson who had his shop burned near Pearson some time ago lias rebuilt it and is now ready to serve the people. Emmett Peterson and his sister Miss Mary have gone to Young Har ris Institute, North Georgia, to school. We wish fliem eminent success. Mr. Jeff Kirkland has in his store at Pc arson an Edison Graphopbone which is an object of much interest to those who call on him. Bill heads, letter heads, envelopes cards, dodgers, notes, contracts and all kinds of job work done by the Breeze at lowest prices. William Moore who was shot in the leg by Conductor Welch at Willacoo chee some time ago, has entered su.l against the B, W. rail road for 15,000, Hacks at Pearsoh is selling jeans pants, negligee shirts, and overhauls at the lowest prices. Do not send off £ir your job work. The Breeze lias just received a fine lot of stationery and can do it as neat ly as you can get it done else where Mr. M. M. Knight of Pearson, was in Douglas Monday and called on the Breez. He is a good natured gentleman and we are always glad to see him M. M. Knight the jeweler at Pear son is doing fine work. Call on him. Next week Douglas will be run over with Superior court. Don’t forget to bring along a dollar fertile Bieeze, one of the Lest weekly papers in south Georgia. Willie Symmons of Brunswick, representative of Glynn Cos. and cap tain of the Brunswick Riflemen is in town in the interest of life insurance. Not a finer man treads the soil of Georgia than - Uncle Wiffie. In company with a few friends we visited Bethel church on last Sunday where we enjoyed an interesting ser mon preached by Rev. J. S. Lewis , after which we went to tho hospitable country home of Mrs .M M Hall where we did justice to a most sumptuous dinner. In the afternoon we enjoyed ourselves with genial John and Frank till a late hour. THE BREEZE. Pearson, Our little towmhas been lively this this week, with drummers, especially tobacco drummers. The people of Pearson thought they had escaped the measles but Moses went to Kirk la ink to see liis girl and remained too back home with a ?pi?vkled face. We are delighted to see Mrs. Hucks convalescing after a weeks illness with measles. Dr. John Dedge from Waycross was injtown Sunday. Our Sunday School was honored with Brother Roberts presence last Sunday evening. He gave us quite au interesting talk on Sunday school work. ‘•Col.” J. W. Bennett from 'Way cross spent Thursday evening with friends in town. Mis Emma Turner of Tifton visit ed the Misses Greer a few days last week. Mr. J. W. Greer spent two days with us this week. We are delighted to see him hold up his head again. What is the matter with the top of our church. May. WiLLiAOOCHEE. A. S. Fackler of the Alapaha Star will move his outfit to this place and start a paper next week. Profs. McGown and Skinner, both rave a flourishing school of about fif ty pupils each. No other town on the B. W. R. R. with an equal number of population can boast of two better schools, and Prof. Tisou Col. has a school in the colored academy at this place with about one hundred and fif ty pupils. Can Douglas beat us on schools? A letter was received at the post of fice in this place a few days ago ad dressed in t.ie following unique way : Carry me quickly at a fifty mile rate To Willacoochee post office Georgia State; There in safety let me be, till Mr. Walter Golden calls for me. X. Leliaton. The weather is very cool at this place we would be glad to see it mod erate. Leliaton is blessed with schools. It can boast of two Sabbath schools one singing school aud two litterary schools. How is that lor our little town? Miss Claudy McWhite of still no. 2 was a guest* of the Suuny South Saturday and Sunday. Mr. James Brown of this place got one of his lingers sawed off Tuesday. He was bolting shingle blocks when the saw struck his hand. Mr. J. W. Greer, Editor of the Breeze, was on our streets Tuesday shaking hands with his many friends. .Mr. J. is a nice man aud we would be glad to have him call often. A Party of young people from this place went out hunting last week and after a fatiguing walk all day they re turned with one joree. Pretty good, boys, go again. Lynn. HatHehural. The new Baptist church will soon he finished, /e have been having a great deal of rain for the past few days and the weather man says we may look for more cold weather Prayer meeting at the Presbyterian church was well attended on last Sun day evening. Rev. 31 r, Barton preached a very interesting sermon at tiie Baptist church on last Sunday morning alio that evening. The ladies of the Baptist church cor dially invite you to attend a supper given next Tuesday night at 6:00 o clock for the benefit of the Baptist church. There will be oysters and quite a varie ty of eatables that will suit tlie most fastidious. The supper will be at the Baptist church and music and recita tions will be a part of the programe. Died At Broxton on last Sunday morn ing, Pearl, the 13 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs W. D. Little. Three days before her death she was a pict ure of blooming youth and beauty, but that dread malady, pneumonia, seized her tender form and preyed upon it with rapid greed until she laid aside her mortality and lied away with the angels. Pearl was a Christian girl with con science void of offense, and her purity of mind and soul, the affection of her heart, and the sweetness of her dispo sition made her a jewel of great preie. Everybody loved her, and the Broxton people will miss her in the years to come. The Broeze offers its sympathies to the bereaved. A Little Girl Burned. About two weeks ago little Gussie, the four year old daughter of Mr. Fred Ricketson who lives near Pearson, was standing near a burning log heap when her clothes caught fire, and be fore any one could get to her she was burned so badly that it was evident she could not live. After a season of | intense suffering and a hard struggle for life, the dear little girl gave up the strife and passed away into the beyond. The grief stricken parents have our profoundest spmpatliy in their sore bereavement. Hon. F. G. dußignon, candidate for U. S. Senate, will be at Douglas on next Moriday and will speak on the financial question during the recess of court at noon. Mr. dußignon is one of the ablest young men, in Georgia, having filled some of the most impor tant positi as in the state; was' Solic tor Genersl of the Eastern Judicial circuit and president of the State Senate. All these and other positions Mr. dußiguon.filled to the entire sat isfaction of the people and if elected to the high office to which lie now as pires will make a U. S. Senator which Georgians will be proud of. Citizen. Sunday School Convention. The regular time for holding the county Sunday School convention is the third Sunday in April, but owing to the early meeting of the state con vention, it becomes necessary to meet earlier, and President Roberta lias called the county convention to meet in Douglas on April 10, the day be fore the district convention which meets here the 11 and 12. Mr. Roberts urges that the Sunday Schools of the county send in their reports so that everything may be in readiness for the district convention. In this is.- ue appear the announce ments of Judge Ward for the Senate and Jeff Kirkland for the House.
