Kirkland of Kirkland Gar, spent tlie first part of the week in Douglas. II Davis of Wilsonviile dropped in and paid the Breeze a dollar while in town Monday. Let every-body take note of Reli han & Co’s, picnic. Read their ad, it tells all about it. Ethel, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Buck has Deen quite sick for several day3. Everybody is invited to attend the district Sunday School convention at Douglas Saturday and Sunday. Poor job work is worse than - none. The Breeze work will compares with the best offices in the country. Mrs. Benajah Kirkland of Pearson is very ill. Fears are entertained of her recovery. We trust that oy this writing she is better. Mr. 11. C. Girtman of Hazlehurst was in town Tuesday and called on the Breeze. We are always glad to see you and shake your hand sir. • M-. It is presumed that the fire oeeured during yesterday sometime as the ruins were still smouldering when seen. It is likely that Mr. Crisp -will not he in Waycross tom morrow on ac count of his throas trouble, ut it is an assured fact that Mr. Smith will be there and probably Mr. dußignon, The speaking will certainly take,place and all who attend will hear a fine dis cussion of the money problem. The day is to be a general Trades Day with Vay cross and the merchants down there will make special prices for the occasion. Commissioners .Meet. The County Commissioners met at the Court house Monday and organized, and those who had not hitherto, took up their commissions. Mr. J. M. Wil cox was elected Chairman and Jiles J Lott, Secretary of the body. T'pon organization, all the financial business of the county passed into tbeir hands and they are now the real bosses of the county affairs. They are a fine body of intelligent men and it is safe to predict that the county in the fu ture will make progress under the su pervision of these gentlemen. The business transacted Monday was rather meager owing to the fact that they had just come into office and were not thoroughly acquainted >vith matters in hand. They auditsd some accounts and defered the build ing of the Indian Fcrl bridge over Seventeen lid further investigation. The Commissioner a are J- M. Wilcox. Chairman, H. L. F, Dyer is visiting relatives in Florida. Joe McDonald’s rabbit mule ran away with the three largest men in town. Ho is all mule. At a call meeting of the City Coun cil of Douglas on April 7th 1896, pres ent his honor C. A. Ward Jr. Mayor, and Aldermen E. A. Buck, tV. F. S;b bett B. Peterson, and Dan W. Gaskin, the following Resolutions on the death of Alderman C. W. Infmger were a dopted. Whereas, it pleased Almighty God to remove from our midst our co-labor er and broth r officer, Rev C. W. In tiuger, and whereas m his death the town of Douglas loses n true Christian, devoted to the upbuilding of bis town and county and whereas, he was at all times in the lead in matters of church and state and education, and all things that tended to elevate the human mind to a higher plane. Resolve that we the officers of the town of Douglas bow in humble sub mission to the will of God, knowing that he docth all things for the good of mankind, and while we deeply mourn his loss, we rej lice in the thought that ho sitteth at the Savior’s right hand and hath hoard the prom ise to the faithful, ‘‘well done thou good and faithful servant enter, into the jovH of thy Lord.” Resolve, that we tender the hear broken companion and sorrowing chil dren the heartfelt sympathy of this official body. Resolve, further that the Clerk cause a copy of these resolutions to be published in the Diuglas Breeze and Douglas Loader and furnish fam ily of deceased with a copy, and spread a copy on the minutes of the town of Douglas.
