I brief AND BREEZY. | - -Easter was cool enough for fires. —Winter is gone, and yet no Spring. —Dr. Jeff Wilcox of ’Cooeliee vis ited our town Monday. —Peach blooms are plentiful in Coffee. Save the cream. —Remember the Sunday School Convention in May, and get ready. —Hon. T. B. Young of Irwin was in Coffee last week buying up beef cattle. —Eugenia M. Harrell has accepted a position with B. W. Blount at Ab bott Fla. —ft is said that Joel Gaskin’s mill pound, six miles out, is a veritable trout patch. —Commissioners Court and sales day this week kept the town from re lasping entirely. —Superior Court over in Irwin county this week caused our lawyers to take some long drives. —The infant babe of Mike Thomas, the GTeek peddler, died Sunday and was buried Monday morning. . —Some of our citizens made a mis take in not -.setting out shade trees. Too late now, but attend to it in the Fall. ' —Some of our subscribers promised to “pay us next court,” if they had to bring a gobler. Now, that’s encour aging certain. —Fence in your woods pastures with wire and your cattle will be pen ned and five cannot destroy the fence. Freeman sells wire fencing and iron posts. —Editpr Boone, we are told, spent! last Saturday and Sunday in the coun-! try with friends. Wilson .pf McDonald’s Mill and Miss Eula Kiffcland, of Pear eon, were married la3t Sunday. The bride is a daughter of Mr. Jeff Kirk land, and an amiable young lady. We do not know Mr. Wilson, but learn that he is a worthy young man. —We acknowledge the receipt of an invitation to the Water and Light Carnival to be held at Fitzgerald on April 14tli and 15th. A private letter from the Committee on Entertain ment says they are especially anxious for all the editors in this section to attend. Paulk, deceased, on the “board of county Commissioners of Btoads and Revenues. * We have appointed the following members of our body to examine the books of the various county officers and make a report to the next Grand Jury of said county. Leonaid Tan ner and Joshua H. Dent We recom mend that they be paid three dollars per day for their services. We fur ther request the county officers of said county to have their books in the town of Douglas on the fir t, Monday in May 1899 for the purpose of having them examined by said Committee. We have been requested to recom mend to the County Commissioners of our county a suitable place on the public lot to locate our now court house. We recommend it to be built in the middle of said lot, as near the place occupied by the old Courthouse as possible, fronting the same street as the old one did. We have examined our pauper farm and find it needing some re pairs. The well needs curbing and the yard fence needs finishing. We recommend that the county commis sioners have Mr McLeod; to make these repairs. If he cannbt do so to discharge him and hire someone that cas do so, as we think one, man is suf ficient to do all work apd ipake all re pairs needed. We also recommend that a.l stock kept on tlie farm be owned by the county, also the poultry. We also recommend that the jail be painted to protect the brick. We recommend the general present ments be published in the Douglas Breeze and Douglas Leader and that they be paid the sum of five dollars each for publishing them. We furth er recommend that they be published in the next issue of said papers. We recommend that the pay of the Jurors of this court be two dollars per day and that the foreman and clerk of the Grand Jury be paid three dollars per day. We thank the Solicitor General, John W.
