Some our exchanges say “the
\\ aycross Air Line R’y is going
to build from Douglas to ( Villa,
where it will connect with the En
sign road to Worth, Ga., thus mak
ing a through line from latter place
to \\ aycross.” And what would
you think if we should tell you it
will run a branch road to Fitzgerald,
connecting at Douglas with the
main line. And still, one is as
probable as the other. 1 We have
spoken,
1 lie South East Georgian furnish
es the following snake story :
“Messrs. J. A. Joiner and John
Fauks were seining near here a few
days ago and caught two sawfish.
The fish measured seventeen feet
each, and their saws were five feet
long. The gentlemen could not
hold the monsters, and were being
carried rapidly to sea, but they used
a rifle to good effect and soon had
the sawfish ashore.
Telfair Enterprise—“ The Darien
Gazette is still on the side of the

and still accuses the “yallercur”
with being the main drawback to
the industry in question—lavs the
blame at the door of the said
“purp.” ~Dog-gone, if the Ga
zette ain’t right! Let’s have more

The Ashburn Advance has been
forced to suspend, for want of home
patronage. It was a bright, read
able paper, but like many others,
was not able to hold up a town and
county to the world as a place
worth living in, without help.
The man that “never reads a pa
per and don’t believe in newspapers
no how,’ - should live in the Okee
feenokee swamp. There he would
not be bothered by customers, ex
cept of bis kind, (blood-suckers)
and wouldn’t know when the
sheriff would sell his land for taxes.
Douglas City Court.
The June term of the City Court
convened on last Monday. Several
cases were on the criminal docket
handed down from the Superior
Court, giving the new solicitor an
opportunity to * ‘•flesh his sword.”
Most of the cases thal were an
nounced ready, however, were such
as the State could not make out, and
as the sympathy of the jury is gen
erally on the side the unfortunate
verdicts of acquittal were rendered,
and the accused turned loose a w iser
and it is to lie hoped, a better man.
Solicitor O’Steen scored a convic
