Bicycles must be valuable in
Douglas. A week or two ago
one of our citizens traded his home
for one, again last week a horse
was given for one.
Dr. W. P. Babcock, of Mill

The Air Line depot, under the

Waycross is in mourning this
week, for the late lamented H, B,
Plant, one of the best friends of
that town. She will be in smiles
to-day, because she expects her
country cousins.
Mr- B. R. Leggett, ot Broxton,
came in while we were out last
Saturday and left on our table a
fine watermelon, for which he has
our thanks. If we lived close to
his p;i|tph we might have to “leg it”
to get out of his way wfuje time,

Sizing up the Girls.
Girls don’t like bachelors us a
general rule, and one who has suf
fered at their hands writes ’em up
in this style: “Yes verily-, verily,
girls are of a few days and full of
mischief; who ever is deceived
thereby is not wise. When the
fair one cheweth gum hastily and
sfampeth her pretty foot with much
vigor, then beware, She cometh
forth in the evening with low neck
and short sleeves, but in the morn
ing she lieth in bed while her moth
er hustleth. She eateth all summer
of the young man’s cream and par
taketli of buggy rides but when
winter time cometh she wfnketh
the other eye arid goeth with an
other beau.”

farmer and anyone else that
rWay want to come to town. Here’s
Spie three former named places
f within thirty miles of Douglas
reaching out for your trade, and
you are sitting idly by with your
' hand on your money, afraid it will
slip away, satisfied with the “nick
le trade” of the day rather than
spend a few dollars to get up some
attraction, 4th of July, or to inaug
urate a trade-day to compete with
your neighbors, and bring trade to
Douglas. Yon can do it, Mer
chants can sell as cheap and have
as much sense as those of other
places, but they luck energy and
enterprise, all towns do when they
are first opened up to the world.
Have a trade-day, a July day, a
special -bargain day, send out hand
bills, advertise (the Breeze will
help you every time) and induce
the people to come, see you and
trade. Commence it and you will
see how it will p;iy you,
