The Election Contest Decided to Favor of the
Populists.
The Supreme court decided the
long hung up election case of Cof
fee county in favor of the populists
last week. So, the suspension is
over, the technicalities and legal
war fare on this subject is past,
and Hon. Elijah Tanner will rep
resent the county in the next leg
islature, while the populist officers
of the county will remain as they
are. We are glad it has been de
cided, and while we should have
prefered a decision in favor of de
mocracy we can put up with it
about as well as any one. We
are a democrat because we don’t
know how to be anything else, but
we can be that and then allow
others to differ with us. This de
cision, however, does not change
the tone of the Breeze, which will
continue, as in the past, to be fair
and square, giving the news as it is
not dished up to suit any one, with
no abuse for any one.

A contemporary states that a
Missouri farmer has found that by
planting onions and potatoes in the
same field in alternate rows the
onions become so strong that they
bring tears to the eyes of the pota
toes in such vast volumes that the
roots of the vines are kept moist
and a big crop is raised in spite of
the drouth.
It is related that a Georgia editor
received the following missive from
a delinquent subscriber: “If you
say another word in your paper
about the money 1 owe you, 1 will
come to town and maul the devil
out of you.” The editor replied:
“Come along and do it. My wife
says I’ve had the devil in me for
years, and if you can succeed in
getting him out perhaps there’ll be
peace in the family afterwards.”

Douglas and Brunswick on the 7th.
Train runs through on same night
returning. See advertisement.
An army surgeon is quoted as
suggesting that the inmates of pris

reached that stage of ‘imperialism.’
It has been alleged that Spain
armed her convicts and sent them

Uncle Sam has no need for any
