Broxton, Sept. 13. —The gins
are being renovated and prepara
tions are lie ini' made generallly to
accommodate the cotton growers of
the county.
The cotton crop is short on ac
count of the drought, hut is rapidly
being gathered for the market.
Mrs. Carrie Martin is rather ill
at this writing, owing to her long
siege of thirteen weeks with fever,
never having fully recovered We
hope for her speedy recovery
Mrs. Martin is an estimable lady,
formerly Mrs. Beechum of Appling
county and comes very recently
into our town, with her family of
three children and one sister. Brox
ton is a unit in congratulations to
Mr. Martin, who was successful
in winning the affections of such a
reputable lady. Perhaps he can
give others a short process of mak
ing many additions.

like the one of this week are
brought up. Such deplorable con
dition of society is hurtful. It
ought never to exist, and we hope
tlie people will see to it that such
may never again he repeated.
Mr. J. Lott returned from his
trip to the north on Monday, via
Abbeville and Fitzgerald, bringing
with him his two daughters, Mrs.
Moore of North Carolina, and Mrs.
Googe of Abbeville, and their
families. Mrs. Moore’s health has
been very poor for a long time,
and she is coining south to try a
change of climate for improvement.
We hope it may effect her recovery.
Broxton will be fully represent
ed at the camp-meeting. We wish
for this meeting a great spiritual
feast and harvest to the church.
Miss Lolla Curry has taught out
her school, and will start for home
immediately after camp-meeting.
The school at Broxton was de
ferred until Monday, September 18,
owing to the fact that some were
not ready to start. Let all make
tlic start together, in order to class
ify and start to work in good
earnest, and make the best of time.
We are informed by tire Chairman
of the Board ot Education, that
we can count public time on all
pupils who have not already made
one hundred days on the public.
This is an opportunity for those
who have not gone to school al
ready, to draw some help from the
public treasury,
Mrs. Mary Lott is not well, hut
we are informed she is not dan
gerously ill.

Feronia, Sept, 14. —Rev. J. N.
Hartly filled his appointment at
Oak Grove last Saturday and Sun
day. He is an able preacher.
Prof. J. A. Mewborn, of Brox
ton, attended meeting at Oak
Grove last Sunday.
We very deeply regret to hear
that Mrs. J. A. Smith is very sick
this week. Wo all hope she will
soon recover.
We learn that Mr. J. M. Boyd
will dispose ol his postoffice at
Feronia.
Miss Eva Martin, of Broxton,
was with her friends at Oak Grove
last Sunday.
Mis. A. F. McLean visited Mrs.
J. A. Smith this week,
Mrs. J. \\ . Boyd visited our
school last week. We hope that
all the patrons will call and see how
w e are progressing in our work.
The Breeze is one of our most
interesting papers. We are glad
to read it, and should be thankful
that Colfee county presents such an
excellent paper.

Wiliacoochee. Sept. 11. —This
p. 111., at s we had a fine shower
and the air is cool and refreshing
to-night. It is the first rain for
this place in two weeks, and in
sures a partial crop of cane and
peas.
The Wiliacoochee High School
is moving along nicelv. Prof.
Overman has enrolled 55 pupils
and adds new pupils almost every
day. There is more interest man
ifested here, now, than for quite a
while, in school matters. Parents
and guardians will do w ell to place
children with Prof. Overman.
After an illness of three months,
Mr. Sutton's little baby died this
a. in. It was troubled with cholera
infantum.
